@hatsu3425 Sure, wanting to be a superhero wouldn't have been particularly healthy for him even then, but it also wouldn't have ruined him in this particular way where greater powers try to tear at him from all sides.

@hatsu3425 Due to this, claims that his life was ruined by being chainsawman-the-superhero just don't hold much water to me. If he had been any other hybrid, he could have had the first without the second.

@hatsu3425 Ehhh. In the story, Denji would have died if the magic dog hadn't rewritten reality so the right person (Power) is at the right place at the right time to save him. Him meeting the people previously close to him again so easily was a result of divine intervention.

@deepfates @TheZvi CC writes code. Unless you execute everything it wrote without ever even glancing at it or the slightest safety measures such as running in containers, that doesn't compare to direct execution of computer commands.

@Adriksh So is what you mean that the mouse input is mapped to a file, the same way some other systems map memory adresses to pixels on a screen?

In Linux, absolutely everything is a file. Your hard drive, your webcam, your mouse. You can literally cat your mouse in the terminal and watch the raw bytes stream across your screen when you move it.

a way too common phenomenon here is people getting addicted to the dopamine hit of being cruel towards bad people so they eventually stretch the definition of "bad people" to include random posters on here who had like one bad tweet

@NewLeftEViews Presumably by offsetting the remaining emissions of the chemical industry with capture via plants or technology. This is already part of 'net-zero' anyway, because we're not going to get rid of all emitters for centuries yet. (Animal herding, Nitrous oxide, etc)

I had been thinking for a while: how does mass production of fertilisers and industrial chemicals look in a net zero world. You can electrolyse your way out of nitrogen fertiliser shortage, though it's costly. But sulphur? And decarbonisation will require more sulphuric acid!
Helen Thompson POLIS@HelenHet20

One can say another fossil fuel energy crisis shows the instability writ into fossil fuels and it does. But it also shows they are the life force of the material world and that you cannot jump off that juggernaut at will or think only of a future where they matter somewhat less.

Spaced out for ten minutes and when I zoned back in I realized I had accidentally drawn a detailed timeline of what will happen over the course of the next thousand years -_-

@chimp_star They mean she's the only one (~sorta) who has it for more than 5 seconds (Sinners using Ego) or while inside the library where reality is thin and light is thick. Mind you, her doing it was still the the presence of a golden bough, so she has her own extra factors.

@pontus_rendahl As such I'd expect ~60-80% of what you can find in a naive search (or more!) to be mostly worthless, and the actually good stuff hard to find. (Assuming there is good stuff somewhere, even if not at this institution, which I'm inclined to do.)

@pontus_rendahl Not surprising that it was frustrating, though sad. When the defining criteria is 'Different from X', you don't get a single thing, you get a wide spread of things that fulfill that criteria. And in that space, lots of people with nonsense ideas can set up shop wo much scrutiny.

I joined Cambridge Economics in 2011 as an assistant professor. For historical reasons, Cambridge is still a bastion of heterodox economics - not so much in the department, but definitely in the colleges. (The college structure deserves its own thread.) 1/10

It's ok to start over as a 31 yr old man. Plenty of career paths for late bloomers like monk or mortician or detective of paranormal phenomena

@sircandyapple I would only send a hi res for a commission or for print for a specific thing under contractual agreement. I wouldn’t send someone a hi res just so they can print a picture for themselves, they can just buy a print from me.
