“There is nothing like the smell of a bookstore. If you ask me, it's actually a combination of smells: part library, part new book, and part expectation for what you might find.”
— Kathryn Fitzmaurice
A few months ago I barely read.
Now I’m sitting here choosing meditation books before practice and noticing how deeply words can shape silence.
Started The Wish-Fulfilling Jewel today. Beautiful opening. Beautiful meditation after.
One book at a time.
Anything that binds you, unlearn it.
Anything that blinds you, unlearn it.
Anything that limits you, unlearn it.
Anything that awakens you, learn it.
Anything that liberates you, learn it.
Anything that fulfills you, learn it.
- Sri Chinmoy
For anyone starting their reading journey, keep this quote by Paulo Coelho in mind:
“If you only walk on sunny days, you'll never reach your destination.”
Success comes from showing up consistently, even when it's hard. Read every day, build the habit.
Some places change the way silence feels.
Today I visited Utøya.
Heard the stories. Walked the island. Took the boat back in silence.
And I couldn’t leave without this book:
“Ingen mann er en øy.”
Some history shouldn’t just be read about. It should be felt.
