This is because in 2013 the *definition* of autism was expanded to include Asperger's, CDD, PDD-NOS, and the Autistic Disorder. Numbers went up because the definition changed to include more variants. And testing and awareness of Autism just got better over time. This is insane.
The White House@WhiteHouse

In the last 22 years, autism rates among children have increased nearly 400%. It's time to make our children healthy again!

@figma Is there any way to get this to output to a functional Figma file, that can then be polished and iterated on? Otherwise all you've done is wrap Claude 🤦‍♂️

New Glenn safely reached its intended orbit during today's NG-1 mission, accomplishing our primary objective. The second stage is in its final orbit following two successful burns of the BE-3U engines. The Blue Ring Pathfinder is receiving data and performing well. We lost the booster during descent. We knew landing the first stage on the first try was ambitious. We'll learn, refine, and apply that knowledge to our next launch in the spring. We're thrilled with today's outcome. I don't think a lot of people are really considering what "a machine smarter than humans at every intellectual task" means for the organizations that have one. Human capital is largely the determinant of organizational success.

So all the labs that are aiming for AGI say they will have a system smarter than a human at every intellectual task in the future. Have any of them actually said what THEY are going to do with this? Are they building the capacity to trade stocks? Do pharma research? Why not?

i don't buy either extreme: programmers won't disappear, but it's disingenuous to think nothing will happen to them my world model is collapsing into a single bit: agency or no agency. that's the whole game anyone (not just devs) with extreme agency is now 100x. it's not fully positive sum -- someone is clearly being left behind. high agency individuals are eating the world. there are now engineers working as product eng, data eng, data scientists, and backend devs all at the same time. there are PMs doing design work and data analysis work and frontend prototyping all at once. this is… new. it's no evolution. it's a phase transition extreme agency people's bandwidth exploded. they can scale. this is not trivial! it feels like a darwinian savana, but one where apex predators can teleport anywhere. the homeostatic equilibrium guaranteed by "there are safe places to chill" is no more if you're a meek, quiet kid waiting for food to drop on your lap, expecting a nice grade if you follow the herd and do your homework, you're totally screwed. many devs are like that. give me the specs, i'll give you a time estimate and eventually a PR. so many such cases. they're all cooked. not in 5 years. not gradually. this is no prediction, it's happening now but if you're truly hungry and just want to devour life and grab everything you can as fast as you can, time, IQ, skills, years of experience are no longer bottlenecks. for you, this time of history will feel like entering eldorado
Paul Graham@paulg

Hard to say if it will be this extreme, but if you average this together with the people saying that all the programming jobs will disappear, you have a reasonable estimate of what we know for sure about the future of programming as a career: nothing.

@mikeymo @maccaw "Great Great Grandpa MacCaw" definitely slept like shit, but the times dictated for you to "stop whining and get over it". Far better to Reflect and tweak, me thinks.

@maccaw Serious question- do you think these can become “crutches” for getting a quality night sleep and without any one of them (while traveling etc) you won’t be able to adapt? Put another way, did Great Great Grandpa MacCaw ever think about these things?

I've figured out my sleep, and it feels amazing. Been sleeping through the night for a few weeks now. What worked for me was: - Eyemask - Earplugs - Eightsleep - Tempur Pedic mattress and pillow - Weighted blanket - AC at 68 - No phone/laptop in bedroom - Box breathing to get to sleep

@maccaw IMO @apple is correct here. Why aren’t you generating a random key, and then storing it in Keychain? You get better security, *and* better user experience.

Two weeks ago we released Reflect on Apple's App Store - it’s been a disaster. Initially, we used TestFlight to distribute our iOS app, which worked well and allowed us to quickly iterate and ship updates. However, there was a cap on the number of users we could have. Eventually, we decided to move to the App Store. Anyone familiar with this process knows it involves some back-and-forth before getting approval, but finally, the Apple reviewers gave us their blessing. We announced our new iOS app and transitioned our customers off TestFlight. Job done! Or so we thought... A week later, we prepared an update to the app with some editor fixes. The update was denied. Apple stated that our sign-in process violated their Terms of Service. We use end-to-end encryption to protect our customers' notes so that nobody else, not even us, can read them. Our encryption process works in two stages: first, Apple or Google Auth is used to log into your Reflect account, and then you provide an encryption password which is used to end-to-end encrypt your notes. This password never leaves your device, ensuring your notes remain secure. Apple's issue was with displaying a password field after the "Sign in with Apple" button, which they claimed was against their terms of service. It's important to note that this functionality had not changed since the initial approval of the app. They had approved the app, we announced it, moved everyone to it, and now they were blocking our update. We've tried appealing several times but have never received a response. We are now in limbo. I don't know what to do. This story is not unique. Every day developers are running into these app-store issues, but many are afraid to speak up in case of reprisals. Apple, if you're wondering why there are no apps for the Apple Vision, maybe take a good look in the mirror and think about how you treat us.

Of all the apps I made: - Only 7 generated at least $1 (40%) 💸 - Only 2 allowed make a living (11%) ✅ 🔪💀 Shipping fast is nice but killing fast is underrated. 👉 If one app generate $100/month but you have no idea how to grow it, and you already exhausted all your options to grow it, move on. You're going to waste lots of time otherwise. Some products are just not made for you. Bonus: Each new app you make will be faster because you can reuse code etc
Nico@nico_jeannen

I shipped 17 apps in one year. 😩 Me before: - Don't know how to code - No revenues - Stress because only 1 year of savings 😎 Me after: - Can code almost anything I want - $5000/month from my apps - Good savings after selling one app for $65,000 👉 If you're just starting with 0 knowledge, the best way to learn to ship is to ship a LOT and figure things out on the go
