My pharmacist has to special-order my medication because it’s rarely in stock. Chain pharmacies treat patients like me as liabilities by default. I’ve gone 8 days without medication — withdrawal and the return of severe pain. Full compliance, documented history — none of it matters at the counter. The CDC never tracked outcomes for the millions of chronic pain patients who lost care after 2016. No data. No visibility. In 2022, the CDC revised its guidelines. Pharmacies, the DEA, and many medical boards have not. We are not the overdose crisis. We are the people caught in the policy response to it. We exist. Will you see us? 💔 #SavingUsToDeath

So not only did sanctuary policies facilitate circumstances that allowed an unlicensed, uninsured illegal alien to hit my 22yo daughter and then flee, leaving her permanently and profoundly disabled, our esteemed @GovofCO (sarcasm) will actively hinder needed therapies and services for her as well as hinder my ability to be her full time caregiver because she requires 24/7 care. While simultaneously throwing millions upon millions of dollars, to services for people like the woman that stole my daughter’s future. Who did not have to pay one cent towards her medical expenses (remember, no insurance). We were denied the wheelchair Carissa needs and I pay for her physical therapy out of pocket. But people who should not be here will have all their medical needs provided. Let that sink in.

The crisis driving today's deaths runs through illicit supply chains that have nothing to do with Purdue Pharma. Billions in penalties. Years of headlines. Millions of abandoned chronic pain patients. The company dissolves on Friday. And people are still dying at the same rate from illicit fentanyl that never came from a pharmacy. At some point, you have to ask, is this accountability, or is this the performance of accountability, while the actual problem goes untouched?
