@jflWrites I'm actually so glad you posted this because books must be advertised! It's no different than any other product on the market. I budget $1-2 a day and always make a profit. Like you, I spent time learning and perfecting the process. I also use X ads, not Amazon now. Congrats!🎉

Authors: Please read before comparing your numbers to mine because I use rudimentary practices I learned from my prior job to advertise. My goal is to help others. If this helps even one author, then I'll consider today a win. - Advertising costs a lot. If I didn't have audiobook sales, I would lose money. - May was a good month for me. I chose to show my numbers this month because I thought exactly 50 sales is an easier number to consider. - I earn $2.99 per Kindle sale and about $0.90-ish cents per paperback. - I get around 1000 pages read per book sold. Sometimes higher, sometimes lower. - One book earns about 90% of the revenue. Advertising the other books is like burning money. - Some of these sales come from amazing authors like you. - I'll probably get 2 ratings and 1 review from these sales. It's worse for Audible. - I slowly built my advertising budget. First, I saved $3 per day for 3 months. After a bunch of failures, I started making money. At first, I added those profits to my monthly budget. - I lose money in October (pre-Halloween), December (pre-Xmas), and February (pre-Valentines Day), so I turn off advertising. I get about 5 sales per month without advertising. - It takes several weeks to a month to recover after turning off ads because 1. advertising takes multiple exposures, and 2. readers often add books to their TBR list. - Whenever I think I figured this stuff out, the algorithms change, and I have to adjust my advertising.
