@BillSimmons I convinced a group of friends to recreate this for a junior high talent show except we wore t-shirts that were printed with the name of the movie - each one with a single word so imagine owning a shirt that reads just OF or THE. that wasn’t even the dumbest part.

@JesabelRaay scream 6 was set in nyc but wasn’t centered on a broadway musical adaptation of STAB. obvious missed opportunity. instead it was about “the idea of franchises” doesn’t matter who your star is if the core concept is uninspired and lacks specificity why nyc if not for Broadway?

The thing about SCREAM & I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER & all the other 90’s slashers that felt like blockbuster events in the 90’s was that there was always this massive office draw. People wanted to see well known, beautiful people getting killed by a psycho killer. Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prince Jr, Ryan Phillippe, Skeet Ulrich, Drew Barrymore, Jada Pinkett, Brandy, etc. They were some of the biggest, most iconic stars of the 90’s & there was global teen appeal. That’s why teen slashers were so big. Not saying this is the problem about the recent SCREAM movies but literally who the fuck are these people? Nobody cares. These modern day slashers are so obsessed with nostalgia & pitting the final girl with children & trauma vs the slasher villain that it feels so empty & performative. It lost all the magic & fun of what made them great. SCREAM, IKWYDLS, HALLOWEEN, TEXAS CHAINSAW, they’ve all failed at it & that’s why slashers are looked at as so low on the horror genre barrel nowadays. They need to fucking do better than this.

@MuseZack having a father with Alzheimer’s, easy to imagine & so sad. one part I’m struggling with is how could she manage without ongoing support? the needs of an Alz patient are relentless. then I think of him discovering her over & over & reliving that trauma. life can be cruel.

The thought of an Alzheimers-stricken Gene Hackman wandering around his giant house alone for nearly a week while his beloved wife was lying dead on the floor is almost unbearably sad. We collectively need to do a better job preparing for the realities of aging and mortality.

@MuseZack I got to work with Bob to develop a feature script I'd written into a TV series for our producers, and found him to be incredibly generous, thoughtful, obviously a creative force, and truly impressive in the pitch meetings we went to. very sad to hear of his passing.

I got to know Bob a bit while working on Fringe, an earlier version of the movie that became Star Trek Beyond & a couple other things and always found him to be kind and generous to a fault. I'd been meaning to check in on him for a while but life got in the way. Now I regret it.

My mom would drop me off in the mall movie theater and then go shopping. I would have to go find her after the movie was done. I was 8 years old and had no phone. The 80s were different.

@MuseZack I saw photos of me going to see Wicked at the Pantages a few years ago with my family and have zero recollection of it. I think it would be like that only bigger… the continuity of recalling a selection of experiences and feelings and the knowledge of how things once were.

If a human were to live 500 or a thousand years, what would a 4 pound brain even do with all those memories? And if it starts dumping most of them for lack of storage space, then what's even the point of a long life if your identity has no real continuity over time?
Bryan Johnson@bryan_johnson

While the days may feel long, our current lifespans are merely a blip in the vast arc of time. The calling of our generation is to begin thinking on the timescale of hundreds and thousands of years - because we may be living that long.

@LukeBarnett the covid parties really undermined his legitimacy for me… ever since all i see is a guy who’s good on camera, says the right things but makes pretty bad decisions. open to being wrong but if that’s my view as a liberal… gonna be hard to convince anyone to the right of me

@MuseZack one look at the citizen app and there were at least a dozen arson fires in a 6 hour window - that was 3 nights ago and they keep popping up. if even half or more are just homeless staying warm that’s still 15-20 arson fires per day

At our freeway off-ramp I drove past four cop cars surrounding a shirtless, tweaker-looking guy they were handcuffing. It turns out he was being arrested for trying to set the brush around the ramp on fire. These fires have really brought the crazies out of the woodwork.

A french woman was scammed out of over $800K by someone pretending to be Brad Pitt • Scammer DM'd her on Instagram and convinced her with AI-generated videos and edited images • She divorced her husband thinking they would get together • Scammer convinced her his bank accounts were locked because of his divorce with Angelina Jolie and that he needed money for a kidney surgery • She realized it was fake when Brad Pitt was on the news with a new girlfriend

@JustineBateman @RickCarusoLA @MayorOfLA so he used taxpayer water which then wasn’t available for taxpayer homes to save his mini mall while families fled for their lives with the clothes on their backs. what a champ!

Looks like @RickCarusoLA knew how susceptible LA is to fire, saw that we were going to have strong Santa Ana winds, engaged a group in advance in case there was fire, and was ready. Karen Bass @MayorOfLA did not prepare, and left on a trip long after the wind warning was made. I mean, if you had a babysitter who was this irresponsible with your kid or home, wouldn't you fire her in favor of someone who can handle adult situations?

People don't get how big LA is. I have friends born & raised in The Valley who at 39yrs old have NEVER been to DTLA. And I have friends on the Westside who would rather chop an arm off than go to Woodland Hills. Manhattan is 23 square miles -- LA is 1302 square miles!

I think there's going to be a mass exodus from LA. I've lived in Seattle since 2016 and once Zoom and remote work took off? Fuggedaboutit. I think the housing boom entertainment wise is going to be Phoenix and Vegas possibly Portland, Seattle, and San Diego. The physical infrastructure of the biz has already shifted to Atlanta, Austin TX, New Mexico, and NYC.

A furnished Bel Air home went on Zillow today for $29,500 / month. A few months ago, it was asking $15,900. I called up the agent. She said she told her client to re-list the home after this week's L.A. fires. "People are desperate," she said. "You can probably get good money."

It seems pretty clear the brave firefighters and emergency personnel saved Encino, where I live, from disaster last night. The shock of what is happening has not fully set in for many people here, but let us take a moment to appreciate everyone fighting for all of Los Angeles.

@IFOS9000 @BillMelugin_ @naomirwolf Everything is portable. The hose is transported on giant reels. They can easily be loaded up on a flatbed trailer. Once there, it would take a matter of a few minutes to unroll miles of hoses. The hoses are at least 12 inches in diameter.

@Bork10Bork @BillMelugin_ @naomirwolf you seem to know nothing about LA - the topography, mountains, fires, streets, freeways, homes, properties, winds, the dangers… this may work in other places but it’s effectively useless and probably more problematic in LA
