Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, who shot into limelight last year as DGMO, post Op Sindoor, will be the new Military Adviser (MA) in the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) succeeding Gen Raja Subramani, who has taken over as CDS. Commissioned into the Kumaon regiment, Gen Ghai is the first serving three star to join as MA (he has more than 15 months of Army service left). All others before him (Gens Khandare, Anil Chauhan, Raja Subramani and Air Marshal Sandeep Singh) had superannuated from service before joining the post. The post was revived in 2018.
