This morning, I inspected our gold reserves at the RBZ vaults. Zimbabwe has now surpassed the 3-tonne benchmark, ranking sixth on the continent. As global uncertainties grow, our gold holdings strengthen the foundation of our national currency and economic sovereignty. #GoldReserves #EconomicSovereignty #Zimbabwe

I’ll be 1000% honest… The one person in football that I will never believe is racist towards black people is Jose Mourniho. No person in the history of the sport has done more for African football than him. Shame on Galatasaray for even suggesting such a thing.
Zach Lowy@ZachLowy

Galatasaray will report José Mourinho to UEFA and the Turkish football federation for alleged racism. This comes after he stated that“Galatasaray’s bench was jumping around like monkeys” in today’s 0-0 draw with Fenerbahçe. Fener sit six points behind Gala with 14 matches left.

H.E. Dr. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma (1929-2025) A mighty baobab of the liberation struggle has fallen, but his legacy stands tall. The passing of His Excellency Dr. Sam Shafiishuna Nujoma, Founding President of the Republic of Namibia and Father of the Namibian Nation, is a solemn moment not only for Namibia but for the entire African continent. As Zimbabweans, we mourn alongside our Namibian brothers and sisters, for the struggle that birthed an independent Namibia was waged in the same trenches as our own. Dr. Nujoma answered the call of history with unwavering courage, leading the Namibian people through the most grueling chapters of their fight for independence. From the days of exile and armed resistance to the triumph of March 21, 1990, he remained a steadfast pillar of freedom and self-determination. A man of vision, he did not only secure independence for Namibia but laid the foundation for a nation that would stand tall and proud among its peers, embracing the spirit of Pan-African unity. His passing on February 8, 2025, at the age of 95, is a moment of profound loss. Yet, as we reflect on his extraordinary life, we find solace in the legacy he leaves behind - a legacy of resilience, unity, and unrelenting dedication to the cause of African liberation. In Zimbabwe, we recognise him as a comrade-in-arms, a revolutionary whose footsteps walked alongside those of our own heroes - Robert Mugabe, Joshua Nkomo, Josiah Tongogara, and many others who waged the noble battle against colonial rule. As Namibia enters a period of national mourning, we extend our deepest condolences to the Nujoma and Kondombolo families, to his beloved wife, H.E. Kovambo Nujoma, and to the people of Namibia. The bonds that tie Zimbabwe and Namibia are unbreakable, forged in the fires of our shared history. Africa has lost a lion of the liberation struggle, but his roar will echo through generations. May his soul rest in eternal power. Hamba kahle, son of the soil.

President Mnangagwa's Proactive Leadership and Favourable Rains Set the Stage for a Bumper Harvest Zimbabwe's agricultural sector, long beleaguered by erratic rainfall, fluctuating weather patterns, and limited access to inputs, is now poised for a remarkable turnaround under the decisive leadership of President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa. Recognising agriculture as the backbone of the economy, the Government has implemented forward-thinking policies to rejuvenate the sector, with a particular focus on timely delivery of agricultural inputs. The early and efficient distribution of farming inputs ahead of the planting season has significantly bolstered farmers’ preparedness, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet the demands of food production. This proactive approach, a hallmark of President Mnangagwa's administration, has laid a solid foundation for both economic recovery and food security. Favourable weather has further amplified these efforts, with consistent and well-distributed rains creating ideal conditions for crop growth. Farmers across Zimbabwe have reported impressive crop development, heralding the potential for a bumper harvest - one of the most promising in recent years. The combination of timely inputs and conducive rainfall is poised to deliver far-reaching economic benefits. A successful harvest will do more than secure the nation’s food supply. It will stabilise local market prices, reduce dependency on costly imports, and open doors for exporting surplus produce, strengthening foreign currency reserves and trade. With agriculture employing approximately 60% of the population, increased productivity directly contributes to poverty alleviation and improved living standards across the country. This promising trajectory underscores the importance of visionary leadership and coordinated action in driving national development. President Mnangagwa’s commitment to prioritising agriculture has not only reinvigorated the sector but also positioned Zimbabwe for sustainable growth. As the rains continue to bless the country, Zimbabwe stands on the brink of an agricultural resurgence, setting a powerful example of how strategic governance can transform challenges into opportunities.
