However, a significant heat wave is expected in late May and early June, with extreme high temperatures predicted to reach 34°C to 37°C. Rescues live in large groups at Ping An A Fu. With hundreds of dogs in each yard, fur trimming is a big task. Now that the weather is warm enough, Sister Ha has arranged for staff to shave and check on the little ones. At Ping An and Afu usually, fur children are free to roam in the yard, or go into the sheltered buildings. The ones who are going through medical treatments are staying in cages at the clinic until they are done with the treatment that requires kennel. All through the cold days, they kept their fur. The medium- to long-haired ones all look like little furballs. When the weather is suitable, we organize a group grooming, and take the chance to check their health and skin conditions. Inside the cages are children waiting to be shaved. The long-time residents aren't worried at all; they get to be petted and get treats during the grooming. The new members are a little afraid, but seeing how calm the long-time residents are, they become patient and accepting. Days go by fast, and season comes and goes. Ping An A Fu always has endless work to do and faces all sorts of challenges, but bearing the responsibility for more than 5,000 lives, Ping An A Fu cannot stop. A charity supporting a retired police dog who was beaten and stabbed in the line of duty is appealing for help to cover the cost of his vet bills. Quantum, 10, retired from Nottinghamshire Police in 2022 after a six-year career in which he helped catch a string of violent criminals. Charity Hero Paws said Quantum had developed dental and mobility issues, believed to be linked to his police work, which had led to thousands of pounds in vet bills. According to national police guidance, once a retired police dog is handed over, the new owner takes on responsibility for costs and welfare, with support from charities if needed.

Last night we rescued one of the four donkeys after a vehicle ran over his leg on the road. The bone in his leg is badly shattered, and right now his condition is heartbreaking. This is the reality for working animals in Pakistan. They are forced to run on busy roads with heavy loads every single day, and tragedies like this happen constantly. We have named him Almus. At this moment, there is no clear solution for his injured leg. His owners are still involved and asking for his return after treatment, but they do not understand how severe the damage is. Until any final decision is made, we are doing everything possible to keep him pain-free, comfortable, and surrounded with extra care and love. On 23 March, police in Da Nang City, Vietnam 🇻🇳 announced the arrest of two individuals involved in stealing dogs in the area. According to the investigation, the men were riding through streets and alleys on a motorbike, using electric prods to steal a total of 7 dogs from local residents before violently stuffing them into sacks 🏍️💔.​ 🚨 While trying to flee, they were spotted, pursued by police, and arrested. They will now face charges for their crimes. We welcome this action by the Vietnamese authorities and hope it sends a clear message: dog theft is cruelty, and it must not go unpunished. Millions of dogs are affected every year by the dog meat trade, and stronger enforcement is essential to stop this violence.​ Sadly, according to local news reports, it is believed that the stolen dogs did not survive 😢💔. While this has not yet been officially confirmed, the case is still a painful reminder of the suffering behind this trade.​ 🇰🇭 For Cambodia, this case is also important.
