Odd timing of this new unknown virus (still not confirmed its Hantavirus)...
Over the last 12–18 months, a group of countries — including the UK, US, India, parts of Africa, and some EU states — raised objections to specific clauses in the proposed WHO Pandemic Agreement (sometimes called the “pandemic treaty”).
The objections were mainly about:
✔ sovereignty
Countries didn’t want WHO to have authority to impose:
lockdowns
travel restrictions
mandatory data sharing
mandatory resource sharing
✔ intellectual property
Some countries opposed rules that would force them to share:
vaccine IP
genomic data
medical technology
✔ funding obligations
Some nations didn’t want to commit to mandatory pandemic‑preparedness funding.
✔ data‑sharing speed
Some governments argued WHO’s proposed timelines were unrealistic or intrusive.
