@cheeseatnight Unknown demand. The LA28 games are more popular than expected. This isn’t a Taylor Swift tour with 30 stops. I do not think this was fully anticipated and you need to finding the balance between selling out and having tons unsold is not a simple math problem.

@KenHanscom What is the point of that, though? If the successive drops are less limited, why put all the Drop 1 people (non-locals) through such a poor experience??

Here’s what people do not want to hear: The first Olympic ticket drops are always limited and there are a lot of disappointments and only a fraction of tickets were sold. Trust me, as someone that LA28 will be my 6th Olympic Games, you are going to have MANY chances over the next two years. LA is the first time I had access to the first drop after skipping the Paris 2024!drop altogether.

And I ended attending 35 events in Paris include men’s basketball gold medal, women’s gymnastics all around and team gold medal games, Opening, Closing and many others that I bought through general sales and NOT hospitality.

We're a couple of hours away from the first LA28 Summer Olymnpic Games ticket drop and at the same time, at least two marketplaces will launch LA28 ticket resales, Stubhub and Gametime at the same time. These are not part of the LA28 verified resale that will launch in 2027...

@stevie4485 That's what I am hearing as well. May not be much if anything left for the slots next week.

@KenHanscom I’ve got a time slot for next week, and I’m already assuming all that’s going to be left is breakdancing even though it’s been canceled 😩

Go time for the first LA28 public ticket drop. I do not have access, curious to what people find available once they get in.

@TicketsData Easiest way to deal with ticket resale caps. No face value, no way to cap. Industry always ahead of the law.

@zamees You can think of it the opposite way, you are paying 2026 prices and not 2028. Kind of like getting a 2022 mortgage interest rate now. Imagine how much more these would cost in 2028.

@KenHanscom What's the % interest I am getting in return for this advance until they deliver the event? :-)

On Location's premium hospitality site for the LA28 games currently has a queue as well. Safe to say that many not finding the inventory they want on LA28 heading over to purchase premium packages for the events they are looking for.

Have multiple sources experiencing that there appears that no additional inventory was added for the first global ticket drop. That the global sale is just a continuation of the local sale. Not official of course.

@KenHanscom It appears it’s all leftovers from the local presale last week.

@KenHanscom when you navigate to the tickets u want, it just throws you into another queue. Terrible system

Hearing for the queue for the first LA28 ticket drop is not too bad, ~5-7 minutes for those that were fortunate enough to get a slot for this morning. Good luck to those in the queue.

@Mike_Channon 2012 is now more than a decade ago. Everything has changed, some for better some for worse. There is no comparing 2 games, even Paris did not have resale outside of unauthorized marketplaces like Ticombo.

@KenHanscom The IOC could and has in the past. They required a lot of tax exemption for the 2012 Games. I guess the US is a special case.

@thefrankdrebin1 Wouldn't you love to be the 1% when you thought you had a ticket to the Gold Medal Basketball game and you are standing at the event when it does not come through?

@thefrankdrebin1 A lot of people. Because rather than having their order cancelled 2 hours before the event 2+ years from now they would rather have a verified bar code that immediately gets transferred to their account. If you don't care, take the risk.

@KenHanscom Who cares? Maybe some buyer wants to lock something in on stubhub now instead of dealing with the 90 more scam drops they will release before the games

@KenHanscom This all seems a little odd. At the London Games the organising committee actively stopped ticket touting. There was a law passed and undercover police at venues. For LA they seem to be active participants in touting!

@KarlWarden @Jeff_Swartz Not accurate. I had friends in on first day and Artistic Gymnastics, Gold Medal Basketball, & Ceremonies were all available. I got in on the second day and was able to score reasonably priced baseball finals, swimming finals, beach volleyball, and women's soccer finals.

@Jeff_Swartz @KenHanscom Trust me. As a local. There were not any high profile event tickets for sale. The only popular event tickets that were available were track and field and swimming but were VERY expensive!
