In yesterday’s @newvisionwire, we once again emphasized the urgent need for Uganda to have a fully functional Bone Marrow Transplant Centre. Every year, many Ugandan patients battling life-threatening blood disorders such as aplastic anaemia, sickle cell disease, and certain cancers are forced to seek treatment abroad an option that is often costly, inaccessible, and emotionally draining for families. At the Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC), we believe that lifesaving care should be available closer to home. Establishing a functional Bone Marrow Transplant Centre in Uganda will not only save lives but also strengthen our national health system, reduce the financial burden on families, and give hope to countless patients who deserve a fighting chance. Together with partners, @GovUganda, and the community we can make this vision a reality. The time for Uganda’s Bone Marrow Transplant Centre is now.
