Creating safer learning environments starts with awareness. We conducted a Safeguarding and Complaints & Response Mechanism (CRM) awareness session for teachers and students at Yenga Primary School in Palorinya Refugee Settlement, Obongi District, to strengthen child protection, accountability, and awareness of safe reporting mechanisms. Together, we are building safer schools where every learner can thrive.

We hosted Finn Church Aid (@fca_uganda ) Uganda & Kenya at our Tengeneza na Somo production hub! 🤝 They visited to study the Somo model as they design a new 2027-2029 women’s economic empowerment project. We shared how we scale women-led agribusinesses by removing upfront capital barriers through our pay-per-use manufacturing space, market linkages, and training. The Embassy of Ireland 🇮🇪, through @UNICEFUganda, supports Early Childhood Development (ECD) services for children in Kyangwali and Kyaka II Refugee Settlements in Uganda, including: 📚 Mobile learning opportunities for young children 👧🏾 Early childhood learning and development activities 🏡 Bringing quality ECD services closer to refugee communities We appreciate the continued support of the Embassy of Ireland and UNICEF in expanding access to quality early learning opportunities for children in refugee settlements in Uganda.

With funding from @EduCannotWait & through @savechildrenug , we are implementing the ELEVATE project to strengthen teaching and learning in seven refugee-hosting settlements across Uganda. The project will support teachers through teacher salary support, professional development, and the provision of essential teaching and learning materials.

In partnership with @UNHCRuganda, we're equipping refugee youth with industry-ready automotive engineering skills through hands-on training at @Toyota_UG. The trainees are from Kyaka II, Rhino Camp, Kiryandongo, and Palabek Refugee Settlements. Together, we're preparing them for employment and labour mobility opportunities.

Thank you @Ulkoministerio 🇫🇮 for investing in vocational skills training in Uganda’s refugee settlements. This support is empowering refugee and host community youth with practical skills for employment, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance.

Over the past week, the Climate, Peace and Security Caravan travelled across Bwesumbu, Rugendabara-Kikongo, Rukooki, Nyakatonzi, Muhokya and Kahendero in Kasese District, engaging communities on the growing link between climate change, livelihoods, peace and security. Through stopovers in markets, schools, trading centres and public spaces, we shared findings from the Resilience Rising research study, listened to local experiences and promoted dialogue on preventing climate-induced conflicts and strengthening community resilience. The was implemented under the Peacebuilding and Climate Action project in partnership with @fca_uganda @FCA_global with funding from the @Ulkoministerio #PeacebuildingandClimateAction #ClimatePeaceSecurity

In Rwamwanja Refugee Settlement, Micheline’s story under the Refugee and Host Community Youth Empowerment and Transformation Initiative (RETI) shows how targeted support can change lives. After fleeing the DRC in 2019, she struggled to rebuild her life. Through RETI, she received training and a loan that helped her start a hair salon. The RETI Programme is implemented by @fca_uganda in a consortium led by @Muni_University and supported by @MastercardFdn. Today, Micheline runs a successful business and is training other women, including Neema, a single mother who is now gaining skills and earning income from the salon. Today 🗓️ is #WorldRefugeeDay! 1/6: Seka Dorah is a 26-year-old entrepreneur in the Kyaka II Refugee Settlement, #Uganda. Her tailoring shop not only provides a reliable income for her family but also gives her and others in her community a sense of purpose. Today, Dorah mentors five young women, equipping them with the skills they need to pursue their own financial independence. Through the Refugee and Host Community Youth Empowerment and Transformation Initiative (RETI), implemented by Finn Church Aid in a consortium led by @Muni_University and supported by @MastercardFdn Dorah gained tailoring skills that transformed her life. Earlier today, together with @NRC_Norway we provided nutrition support to newly arrived refugees in Kyangwali under the China Humanitarian Assistance Project (CHAP), supported by @OPMUganda. The support includes therapeutic feeding products and fortified blended foods for children, pregnant and lactating women, older persons, and persons with special needs as they begin rebuilding their lives in safety.
