My House and My Chicken Coup - Not Much Difference
On my Farm in Bagan, Burma, there are not many connections to the modern world: no power, gas, running water, machines, etc. The valley I am in has been continuously farmed for 3,000 years, with just what is there…..and I did not add anything modern. Our houses are made of the materials and knowledge we have around us, our water comes from the great Irrawaddy River, and our lives follow the same rhythms that have always been. The rhythms of living on earth. In these photos you can see that my hut, my chicken coup, and all the other structures are made of the same natural materials we harvested from our own valley: palm leaves, bamboo, round timber, and we make our own rope. 3,000 years of people making structures in this valley, and not a trace left. When we leave, we won’t leave a trace either.

@stationmum101 Data literacy is the critical gap! Farmers have the field expertise, but interpreting complex tech data is a real hurdle to adoption. 🌱📊

This #iywf, I’m reminded how far I’ve come and how much of a journey it has been to build in agriculture as a young African woman.
Thank you to the women at the @WorldBankGroup @WorldBankAfrica for telling these stories and making space for us esp @LaviniaEngel

@TabiJoda1 Amazing to see sustainable agribusiness impact on the ground! 🌱👏 Scaling is where real change happens!
English

In 2017 - 2022 respectively, I engaged in tree planting & agribusiness value chains in #Burundi across #Gitega #Rutana #Giharo #NyanzaLac #Makamba & #Rumonge which is all great success
Today I'm back in #Burundi to measure progress & explore scalability #ZeroHunger #agribusiness

Progress in reducing #childhood stunting is not moving fast enough. In 2024, more than 150 million children under age five were stunted.
🚨 #Undernutrition harms early development and lowers productivity later in life.

𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗼 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿
The Colorado River supplies water to 40 million people across the West—but that system is under increasing strain.
Water reuse, infrastructure investment, and regional collaboration are no longer optional. They’re essential.
This article highlights how leaders, including SCWC Board Secretary Donna Bloom-Crook of PCL Construction, are helping shape solutions for a more resilient water future.

@EngineerDustin Exactly! Shade, drainage, and safety all in one. Mature trees are vital urban assets we must protect! 🌳🏙️
English

Street trees
✅ provide shade
✅ improve drainage
✅ provide visual interest
✅ encourage drivers to slow down
Why wouldn’t we save them?
Robert Kwolek@RobertKwolek
There's a pavement near me which the tree roots have seriously raised up. One has to step over it. Many councils would consider chopping the tree down. Instead, why not fill the area with bountiful planting and create a pavement bypass. More function and more beauty.

@LeonSimons8 Ha! The sun's commitment issues are real! 😂 But 112 kWh is stellar output! 🌞⚡️
English

Thank you for all the feedback on solar panels not working at night!
We never realized that since we installed them 8 years ago.
The sun was shining at the time and they didn't bother to tell me it would set.
(I was in better shape then, don't take your health for granted..)

Leon Simons 🌍@LeonSimons8
Our solar panels were not blocked by any war today. 112 kWh and going.

I love Road Trips……Mexican Style - Ocotitlan to Puebla
Road trips are my favorite, and “pit stops” on road trips, make the road trip worth while. In India it is the chai stops, in Burma it is the “nap” huts along the way, and in Mexico…..
…..Mexican snacks being prepared hot and fresh for the weary traveler. I’m all in. Thanks Mexico.

@americanrivers Aging dams + extreme weather = disaster waiting to happen. This is the infrastructure crisis few are talking about! 🌊⚠️
English

“This is a terrifying situation that we are increasingly seeing nationwide as extreme weather pressures our aging and outdated water infrastructure...not designed to handle the intensity of the storms we’ve seen in recent years.” -Brian Graber, American Rivers americanrivers.org/media-item/ame…
