Observing challenge! Want to try for Sirius B, the famous white dwarf? Sirius A and B are still at about the widest apparent separation of their 50-year orbit. You'll want at least a 10-inch scope and a night of really excellent seeing. buff.ly/bTsIz6v

@CathAdams1973 @FLO_UK Amazing, Cath! I’m still tempted to get one, just haven’t managed to justify it yet with all my other gear (that I can’t use because it’s cloudy all the time!)

The Seestar S30 is an incredible little scope I’ve just been out on deck of Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines Balmoral showing guests views of the Sun. I’m amazed how well the S30 coped with the vibration from the ship engines. #seestars30 @FLO_UK

First image of Jupiter, with Io and it's shadow, and the GRS, taken with my new Uranus-M mono camera last night. The plan is to get an IR pass filter which will hopefully help me get sharper mono images to use as a luminance layer combined with colour from my Uranus-C camera.

Early Sunday morning, the Moon and Spica will be 3° or 4° apart. And as early dawn brightens, Mercury will rise some four fists lower left of the Moon. Fainter Beta Scorpii will shimmer 0.6° lower right of Mercury. buff.ly/r1uvZIF

The Veil Nebula Complex! 📸 This dynamic area of the night sky features an incredible collection of supernova remnants, including both portions of the Veil Nebula. August is the perfect month to start capturing the Veil Nebula, and it's an obtainable target, even from the city (with the right filter). I captured this from my backyard using a color camera and a filter that isolates the prominent gases in the nebula and ignores almost everything else. If you're planning to get a shot like this, I recommend using a wide field telescope or lens in the 250mm focal length range. Clear skies! Equipment Used: Telescope: bit.ly/3M6fiAK Camera: bit.ly/3CaQWUI Filter: bit.ly/3SxH7Gl Image Details: 48 x 300s (4 hours total) Processing in DSS, PI, PS

@weatherandsky I do like star cluster images where the stars take centre stage, rather than just a background. Lovely image 🙂

I decided to quickly set up my smart telescope last night. Here is the beautiful double cluster through the smokey air aloft. This is an edit of a pre stacked file 2 hrs total time. Originally I wanted to see if comet C/2025 K1 (ATLAS) would show up which it did but was a super small smudge. @zwoastro

I reprocessed all 114 hours of data I collected since Feb '22 on the amazing M106 galaxy, including 54hrs of Ha for those incredible Ha jets. 5 cameras, 3 scopes - quite a pain to put together but I'm happy with the result Hope you like it too. Link below
