Positive step by the Maharashtra Government for simplifying approval process for real estate. BMC introduces an AI system for approvals. AI will read all documents submitted, highlight missing documents, mention the correct entry, suggest rectifications.

Newly appointed Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe has launched a statewide crackdown on food adulteration and banned products within days of taking charge. After assuming office on May 25, Mundhe directed officials across Maharashtra to conduct special raids targeting adulterators, illegal gutkha sellers, unhygienic food manufacturers, and establishments violating food safety norms. In just three days, FDA teams carried out 53 raids across Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Nagpur, Amravati, Konkan and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar divisions. Authorities found 34 establishments allegedly involved in the sale of banned gutkha and pan masala. A total of 25 FIRs were registered, 33 accused arrested, 5 vehicles seized, and 27 establishments sealed. The biggest action was reported from Mumbai, where 19 establishments were raided and sealed. Officials also seized banned gutkha, flavoured tobacco and illegally packaged products. Apart from tobacco-related products, FDA teams inspected packaged drinking water, milk, edible oil, sweets, spices, paneer, ghee, bakery products and other food items. During the operation, authorities seized suspected adulterated and illegal food products worth ₹28.78 lakh, while samples have been sent for laboratory testing. The large-scale drive signals a tougher enforcement approach under Mundhe's leadership, with the FDA warning strict action against those compromising public health. #TukaramMundhe #FDA #Punetimesmirror #BreakingNews #GutkhaRaid

Bought a family pack of ice cream. After a few scoops, it felt like I was eating sugar, not ice cream. By the 5th scoop, the sugar nausea had kicked in. All ice-cream companies should be banned in India for selling sugar and not actual ice cream.

Everything in Pune is a little expensive, even if it's a basic thing. In Indore we used to get poha for 10, 12, or 15 rupees maximum, but here in Pune even at the very normal basic thela the poha costs 30 rs. And the most important thing they dont even put "sev" in it.

Pune's garbage collection system is facing a massive crisis, and the reason behind it is absolutely shocking. Out of over 10,000 workers assigned to keep our city clean, only about 40% are actually doing their jobs on the ground. A detailed internal report by the solid waste management department reveals that around 450 to 500 sanitation workers are allegedly deployed at the private residences of political leaders, including MLAs, corporators, and former office-bearers. Instead of cleaning the streets, these municipal employees are reportedly being used for personal duties like housekeeping and driving, all while drawing their full salaries from the taxpayer-funded PMC budget. What makes it worse is that this isn't a new issue. The investigation shows that some workers have been completely absent from their original cleaning postings for 5 to 10 years. Even though a detailed report on this mess was submitted to senior civic officials last year, political pressure and frequent transfers of senior officers have successfully delayed any concrete action. With the city's cleanliness visibly suffering, PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram has now stepped in and ordered a strict verification process, promising that anyone found guilty of exploiting the system will face consequences. #Punetimesmirror #PuneNews #PMC #WasteManagement #CivicIssues

Worth reading. The data shows FPI selling is not a vote against India. The bigger exits are from offshore/tax-haven routes like Singapore, Mauritius and Luxembourg — mostly fast-moving, speculative money. Long-term investors are staying: • Pension funds are up • Japan and France increased holdings Indian markets have already delivered nearly 2x returns in the last 5 years, so some profit-booking is natural. India’s fundamentals remain strong: growth, GST collections, strong banks, capex push and resilient domestic demand. Hot money is rotating. Serious capital is staying invested in India.

Got stopped by Mumbai Police last night, probably because they saw a Gujarat number plate and a chance to take some extra income home. The cop immediately started listing random violations - speeding, lane cutting, “driving in a hurry,” breaking rules - basically throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks. None of it made sense, but he knew that as well. He threatened me with a ₹3,000 fine and asked to step out of the car and come with him to his vehicle. I had an urgent work meeting to jump into once I reached home and zero time for his nonsense, so I asked him to cut to the chase. The "settlement" amount? A crisp ₹1,000. The absolute best part of this transaction? As he let me go, he generously offered his personal "help" if I ever face any issues settling into Mumbai. Customer service at its finest. 🤌🤡 Dear @Dev_Fadnavis ji, please start paying our cops well. They clearly work very hard. But so do the rest of us, and treating out-of-state plates like mobile ATMs is not the way to generate revenue. Fix this. The biggest irony here : The cop who stopped me came driving on the WRONG SIDE of the road (along with half the traffic behind him) just to catch me.

9/ Bottom line from the discussion: Manufacturing growth is the missing link for sustainable middle-class expansion. Services alone can’t carry the load anymore. We need policy focus on cost competitiveness + human capital + mindset change.
