He drew reference lines on the window with a grease pencil, used the stars he had carefully memorized during training, and timed every move with nothing more than his wristwatch. When technology failed, the astronaut became the backup system.By eye and by second, he fired the retrorockets at the exact instant required. The capsule shuddered violently as it slammed into the upper atmosphere, its heat shield glowing white-hot. Radio contact went dead. For several agonizing minutes, the world waited in silence.Then the parachutes blossomed open. Faith 7 splashed down just four miles from the recovery ship — the most precise landing in the entire history of Project Mercury.Cooper later explained it with typical understatement:“I used my wristwatch for time, my eyeballs for attitude, then fired the retrorockets at the right time. And that’s how I landed right by the carrier.”Technology is incredible. But when it fails, the final, most reliable backup has always been — and still is — the calm, capable human mind.

@aleise_vl @AppleSupport I contacted @AppleSupport today by phone. Had to call three times, explain the situation to four different people. Finally the last person said yes you are correct, but can’t do anything to fix it. 3 of the 4 techs & the supervisor were totally useless & demeaning.

Hello @AppleSupport, yesterday’s iOS 18.7.7 Version 22H340 will not install on iPhones XS & XR because the are running 18.7.7 Version 22H333. Yesterday’s Version, 22H340 should have been numbered 18.7.7.1 so that all iPhones could install it.

@aleise_vl In the meantime, go to your settings, go to iPhone storage, look for the update, and delete it. It will delete the flag at least temporarily.
