This event is an information session on women’s health for all employees and spouses. Dates: May 12 at 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. (two sessions to accommodate multiple shifts and spouses/partners who don't work at BIW) Location: Maine Maritime Museum, 243 Washington St., Bath Learn about benefits and resources for your health, especially for women who are navigating hormonal issues, expecting a baby or entering peri-menopause or menopause. A big congratulations to our BIW Apprentice School graduating class of 2026! BIW celebrated its 2026 Apprenticeship graduating class on Friday, May 1, with a luncheon and ceremony in the new Pier Support Center’s conference area. Seven design apprentices and one in electrical were recognized. Apprentices combine 1,000 hours of coursework with 7,000 hours of on-the-job training. Over the course of four years, they earn an associate’s degree from Maine Maritime Academy (MMA), an Apprenticeship certificate from the State of Maine and gain valuable experience in their field. These dedicated individuals are not only the next generation of shipbuilders, but the next generation of shipyard leadership. Congratulations!

Bring your bulbs, your extra seedlings, your terrariums, your propagations, your succulents and all those spider plant babies just hanging there and either trade or sell them! Table space is $5 and you set the price or trade for your plants. Tables are open for employees or their families. My time spent aboard USS Bainbridge this past week reinforced why the Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer continues to be the workhorse of our Fleet. Today, we funded two more DDG 51 Flight III class ships. From the Great White Fleet to the Golden Fleet, our Navy has maintained maritime dominance. With today's action, our shipbuilders will soon be at work delivering more of these lethal warfighting platforms. Let's go!

As part of BIW's new sea trials program, the future USS Patrick Gallagher (DDG 127) made a scheduled stop in Portland, allowing some members of the crew who have completed their tasks to leave the ship, with others joining for the remainder of trials. DDG 127 is the last Flight IIa Arleigh Burke-class destroyer. BIW's other ships under construction are Flight III. #BathBuiltIsBestBuilt

On Workers’ Memorial Day, April 28, we honor the memory of those who have lost their lives due to workplace incidents and reaffirm our commitment to promoting safety and preventing injuries. Today, BIW observed this important day with a custom hardhat sticker and remembered our colleague Nathan Marsh, who tragically passed away in 1989, by sounding the crane and forklift horns at 12:30 p.m., the time of his accident. We remain dedicated to always Safely Executing High-Quality Work.

The future USS Patrick Gallagher (DDG 127) sailed down the Kennebec River on Monday to conduct sea trials. Sea trials enable the BIW operating crew to test the many systems installed on the ship to ensure they are performing to Navy standards.
