This woman peeled the fingers of her underaged house help with hot water for licking her soup,she boiled the water and peeled her hand. I used to think being a good man would make people treat me better. Lol. Naivety dey pain die. I learned the hard way that goodness is not a currency people are obligated to honor. Some people will take your kindness and study it for weaknesses. Some will mistake your patience for foolishness. Some will stay only because you keep giving and leave the moment giving stops. Being good was never the problem. My mistake was thinking it came with guarantees that decency would be reciprocated, that loyalty would be returned, that effort would be matched. Life doesn’t work that way. Character is not a transaction. You don’t do good to receive good. You do good because it’s who you have decided to be, regardless of how people respond to it. Now I understand: protect your peace, set boundaries, give from a place of fullness not desperation. Stay good. But stay wise too. The two are not opposites but they’re partners. Goodness without discernment is just an open door for anybody to walk through and waste your time. Be guided accordingly.
