“It’s not a tech problem. It’s an adoption problem. We know how to solve this technically — blockchain’s been around for decades. Reducing Settlement Friction in Cross-border Payments Cross-border payments have long been painful, costly, and slow. As highlighted during the discussion, “sending money cross-border has been quite painful, quite painful and costly and time consuming.” Moving funds across corridors often meant multiple currency conversions, several intermediary banks, and settlement times stretching from two to seven days — leaving working capital trapped in transit. At SG–HK Connect, organised by @MetaCompHQ and @osldotcom, Dr Bo Bai, Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of @AlphaLadderHQ, shared a live operational example of how this paradigm is changing. In older days, “when we want to send AED, convert to USD, and then convert it back to SGD, that it may take anywhere between 2 to 7 days,” largely due to intermediary banks involved in the middle.
