@TheRoboteer That's utter tosh, the most they had was a computerized fuel consumption display. Which had a high error rate in the early days. Hence the cars running out of physical fuel in that clip.

But it's also certainly true that in the 80s the computer could decide to cut your power or give you more than you were expecting on occasion (see clip)

@vers_150516 Never been more than a PR exerciser. Given how few drivers filter to F1 through the ranks, the money spend on the series might have been better used to get 2 or 3 of the drivers a F3/2 seat.

Probably get dragged for this but at what point do we accept that F1A is a failure. Not only is it a step back for many but it also just hinders their careers. Feels more like a photo op and ticking off boxes than an actual progression to help get women into f1

Last year I found a cool formula that calculates the real sun position at a given date/time for a specific geo location. So I had to have it. As the race progresses the light conditions change accordingly. Not a big deal, it took 1-2 hours to implement, but still it adds a lot.

@tirii_f1 None of these cars have a V12. V12 aren't even the prevalent engine architecture of the 80s. They make up a bit more of 5% of the powerplants during that decade. It's mostly DFVs and turbos. The few V12 either early 80s Alfas and Matras, or late 80s Italian V12s.
