This “Messi and Ronaldo” myth must die. The media manufactured a forced narrative that should never have existed, and led a generation of impressionable people to believe some parity exists. Even now, as this World Cup ends, they are back at it. One man was dumped out ages ago. Yet here they are, forcing him into a story with a man who almost singlehandedly dragged his country to yet another final. If they must invent a yang to Messi’s yin, they should at least nominate players with actual World Cup legacies.

FIFA robbed Messi of the Golden Ball. Anyone who watched this World Cup knows that. And they didn’t have to do that. Twelve of Argentina’s nineteen goals ran through him, eight scored, four created. That’s before you look at the goals where he didn’t get the assist but fashioned the goal. He won more MOTM awards. Had better rating on average. If they wanted the Golden Ball to go to a player in the winning team, they should make it a clear rule. He dragged Argentina back from the dead against Egypt, then England, and carried them to a final at 39. Rodri had an excellent tournament in the best team in the world. Messi was Argentina’s entire run. He got cheated out of this one. Won’t matter much amidst his glittering legacy, but I hope it doesn’t happen to another deserving player in the future.

I'm actually starting to believe that Chelsea's owners are always watching what clubs like Arsenal and Manchester City are doing in the market. Pep Guardiola wanted Marc Cucurella, Chelsea hijacked the deal. Now Arsenal wanted Morgan Rogers, and Chelsea have gone and signed him too. At this point, it feels like they see a player Arsenal or City want and immediately decide that player is a very good player and therefore see the need to hijack him 😂 And once again, they've thrown crazy money at a player I don't even think is worth more than £80 million. These guys never seem to learn. 😂
