Police Officer? Hate “doing Traffic”? Think it’s “not real policing”? Make it really easy for yourself with my handy guide. Before you realise, you’ll be booking up yer granny like a proper black rat! TFU-friendly with added pictures and colours.

“I absolutely love the tyre diagrams.” “Not only is it great for us to use, I like to explain things to people so it’s a great little visual...” “I promise to spread it far and wide in my quest to convert everyone to Roads Policing Officers.” —Suffolk RPU Officer

Burpham. Not one. Not two. Not three, but four supercars, all stopped in convoy, since they had driven through some type of gravity well on the A3 and their front number plates had “just dropped off”. 🙄 Tickets issued for all four vehicles. #SCRPU ^MW

A great example of why vehicles are stopped for minor offences. Good work. 👍

#RPU stopped the Range Rover off the M4 to check the window tints as they looked dark. Further checks reveal both occupants are wanted by immigration for illegal entry to the UK, no driving licence or insurance. 2 #arrested and vehicle seized

Derby Vehicle on non-UK plates but been activating speed cameras. Driver produces his EU licence but we're not new to this game and find his UK record. Forgot to mention that he was disqualified from driving and had no insurance. #NiceTry #Seized #Reported #Gp2

Two children in the rear of this vehicle were not wearing seat belts. The vehicle was stopped and the driver issued two TORs for the offences. #safetyfirst #syn1

#RPU with another car failing to display a registration plate. We very rarely see this issue on a 2002 Ford Focus Ghia

@OffenceCode Saab 92. Volvo’s massive contribution to road safety was offering the 3 point seatbelt to other manufacturers without payment for the patent. I wonder how many lives have they saved?

Saab fitted two-point seat belts as an option as early as 1957 on the Saab 93. From 1958, they were fitted as standard on the GT750. Three-point harnesses, developed by Volvo, provided even greater safety. Swedes have been innovative on automotive safety over many years.
UKROEd@UKROEd

The very first 3 point seatbelt was sold in a Volvo PV544 on August 13th 1959. Given attitudes at the time drivers and passengers were sceptical of the benefits and slow to start using them. 📷 @volvocars

@obbsie @TerraRasa Chris, I offered some tips that I’d personally found useful. Other colleagues may have other advice. My comment was never intended as a criticism of my MetPol colleagues who, I’m sure, are conscientious, professional and diligent.

@OffenceCode @TerraRasa In actual fact, the sergeant, when I walked past and stopped briefly, was leaning down so his face was almost on the same level as the guys when talking to him. By the time I'd walked past and got an unobtrusive angle he'd straightened up.

On the ground nr Ealing Bdwy Stn, & at an angle to preserve his privacy is a homeless man clearly down on his luck. I could hear the conversation & he was being treated with kindness ,& compassion with offers of support. One of many unheralded humanitarian acts by officers today.

@ShaunfromDurham @MPGTBL I had the XC40 as a courtesy car yesterday and today. Bloody awful thing. Horrible. Used to own the S90 T8 with Polestar upgrade. Fast car with all the toys but soggy suspension. Now have the S60 T8 Polestar Engineered with all the toys. Rapid and much better handling.

@grahamwettone @obbsie I won’t comment on a live investigation but I can point you towards the College of Policing definition of a pursuit, which might be a little different to how most might understand it.

@obbsie Keep hearing the word 'pursuit' used but - and I was a class 1 pursuit driver - that doesn't look like a pursuit when the van (not a police pursuit vehicle either) is half a mile from the bike when they crash. Tragic incident & hopefully the investigation is prompt but factual.

Now, I'm not traffic orientated. My standard course examiner said I'd never be an advanced driver as long as he had a hole in his arse, BUT, so much seems obvious to me here, I'm wondering whether I'm just getting it all wrong 'cos I'm a traffic ignoramus. youtu.be/1DYzD1248Yc

@Foxtrot_Cop It’s neither an e-scooter (PLEV) nor an e-bike (EAPC). It’s a motorcycle.
