@MrRexPatrick Great to have an office with a bit of 'elbow room' I imagine it might be a tad frosty up in there this morning.

This morning I’m writing a short article on the cost of #AUKUS nuclear waste storage and disposal. My office is set up a stone’s throw from the Gloucester River, inside the Barrington Tops National Park, Mid North Coast, NSW. #FOI #WorkFromRoam

Opinion | By pushing through protest laws now struck down by NSW's highest court, Premier Chris Minns has proven himself a constitutional vandal. crikey.com.au/2026/04/17/chr…

An early start here in Washington DC ahead of an important day of meetings with counterparts from countries supplying half of our diesel and 3 quarters of petrol and jet fuel imports. Thanks to Sarah Ferguson for having me on @abcnews 7:30 to talk about how we're managing this dangerous moment in the global economy.

You can’t run record immigration into a housing shortage and expect things to improve. More people + not enough homes = higher prices, longer waits and more pressure on everything. It’s not fair on Australians and it’s not fair on the migrants either. The system is badly broken and the duopoly certainly won’t fix it. Vote differently.

We recognise that people are under pressure and more than recognise it, we're doing something about it with decisive action to help with the cost of living, including halving the fuel tax.

Economics Editor of The Sydney Morning Herald, Ross Gittins, puts it perfectly: “This (a 25% tax on gas exports) is low-hanging fruit that Albanese could pluck at no cost to voters and little, if any, threat to the gas industry.” Too right. Read more: theaus.in/428r1GY

Recession, stagflation ahead. Here's Michael Keating's (Ex PM&C) solutions: reduce the deficit, tighter budgets whole-of-government; reduce CGT property tax break from 50% to 30%; scrap negative gearing from now on; 80% LNG export tax + a carbon tax. johnmenadue.com/post/2026/04/s…

@larissawaters Migration is a large contributing factor It is a pure numbers calculation More people = Less Houses that are available Rents rise People have less to spend on food & other basics More people clog already stretched essential services Turning a blind eye to that is ridiculous

While billionaires and big corps make bank off war, housing, and essential services, people struggle to afford the basics. Migration is not the cause, unchecked inequality is. The ultra wealthy want to divide us so that the 1% keep winning. We won’t let them.

Angus Taylor’s announcement is a desperate Coalition attempt to win back One Nation voters hellbent on blaming migrants instead of the billionaires who are actually fanning the flames of inequality. Instead of coming up with any new ideas, they turn to racist dog whistling.

Social cohesion isn’t something we take for granted. It’s something we build together, through respect and understanding. His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa is in Australia, supporting our strong and diverse Muslim community and the values that bring us together. A global voice for interfaith dialogue, and a leader in the fight against extremism and hate, his work continues to bring people together across faiths and cultures. Thank you for meeting with me in Sydney this morning.
