@DaysofNoahGen6 I bury my seed potatoes in a cooler and cover the hole with straw from that years straw bale garden, and a tarp. First warm days, I put the straw in a “tower”, put potatoes and plant them directly in the straw. They will grow eventually. This is how to grow potatoes the old way.

@iceberge80 My first garden is my rose garden, and I’ve been growing it for 10 years. You could count on two hands, the number of bees, whether they were honeybees or bumblebees that I saw. Usually, I would see 100 in a day.

@OneMound I didnt see a lot of bees last year but still had a good year. This year every flower in the neighborhood is buzzing. I walk into the backyard and all I hear is a party going on at my lemon tree.

@iceberge80 Last year was my worst year for tomatoes, ever. I had so few pollinators in my yard. I’m really hoping for more bees this spring

@iceberge80 I am sure I can do much better. My germination tests are all successful however. I just air dry everything and seal in a jar with an oxygen absorbent

@iceberge80 I do the same with the three sisters garden. I harvest thousands of heritage open pollinated seeds that I just store away for a rainy day just in case. It’s kinda weird but I feel like it’s common sense.

@iceberge80 All from the first years potato harvest, haven’t had to buy anymore. I hope for 1000 seed potatoes this year.

@iceberge80 Should be interesting at least. Third year growing these ladies! First year 30 plants, second year 50, this year I planted maybe 250 whole potatoes in a straw potato tower that’s about 5’ diameter.

@cognazor The worst part, maybe not the WORST, is the market for open pollinated is relatively small. If something goes wrong, available seeds will be sold out in days. Less, if AI is trained to find these resources and buy them all with the press of one button. Time to get started folks.
