@SirBylHolte It’s called a story arc. She starts that way goes on a journey learns something about the world and herself gains conviction save the day. It feels like “the hero’s journey” which is a classic story structure.

I couldn't have said it any better, but I'll try. 1. Who are they writing these films for? Parents don't want that as a role model for young girls. 2. The largest portion of the Supergirl comic readers are male. Maybe some of them will like an emotionally scarred, selfish, drunk, and depressed SG. Hard Pass. It's a pity. Given the right script, James Gunn could have probably made this as big a hit as GoG.
