I'm sure there are millions of people like me, who gazed up at the stars and dared to dream and envision a future everyone told them was impossible. I know you are one of those stargazers. @AThinksAloud Well, first and foremost, it is a GREAT story. Great stories are what movies are (should be) all about. Second, Angel Studios is a fairly new upstart studio, not bound by the old Hollywood system. That gives them more flexibility.

Seeing Young Washington at the movies tonight. I have heard great things. Is it just me, or are good movies coming out more regularly now? Is going to the movies BACK?

@SDDonovan forget about it and move on. At least the author gave it a shot, sweated over the words, assembled it. Writing is hard, and just maybe, the story was meant for someone else. I could be the wrong market for that book.

If you read a book that you thought was awful, both the writing and the story, would you leave an honest review or simply forget about it and move onto the next book?

@Biblicalman One thing that is doubly impressive here. We heard about Supergirl for Months before the film open. I did not know Young Washington existed until the day before. 21 million on a film most folks never heard of before it dropped is doubly impressive

The box office just exposed the lie. Supergirl burned through $290 million in production and marketing and still only scraped together $10 million in its U.S. opening weekend. Young Washington, made on a humble $30 million, cleared $21 million in the same window. The audience isn’t confused. They’re done. Done with the bloated spectacle, the forced messages, and the empty costumes. They’re choosing the story that actually carries weight. One film got buried under its own agenda. The other proved that when you give people something real, they show up with their wallets. So what does it say when truth on a small budget beats propaganda on a massive one by more than double?

@itsrosesm What is this "will turn" it IS turning great cities like New York, Chicago and LA into crime infested ghettos and slums. Whether I agreed or not, it is happening in almost all blue cities.

Careful, Mark. What you're proposing is the very statism you claim to oppose. "Change our laws to bar enemies from public office." Who decides who counts as an enemy? Once government can disqualify a candidate for his ideas, that power does not stay in your hands. The next administration defines "enemy" as you, and shuts you down by the precedent you built. This is exactly how every statist regime begins: banning the dangerous idea, then widening the definition until dissent itself is the crime. You cannot defeat collectivism by adopting its central tool, force against ideas. That concedes the whole principle. The answer is philosophical. Bad ideas are beaten by better ones, argued openly, grounded in reason and the honest recognition of reality. Defend the individual, name the collectivist premise for what it is, and win minds. That is slower than a ban. It is also the only method that doesn't end with you on the list.
