Happy/incredulous/proud to share that I recently submitted my PhD thesis- “Ruminant livestock and climate change: UK livestock sector discourses and practices” 🐮 🐑 🌍 Extremely grateful to my supervisory team, colleagues, participants, friends and family.

Particular thanks to the livestock farmers who took time out of their busy schedules to meet me, and in many cases showed me round their farms. Summary for participants on the way in the coming months 📝

Following Habermas and others, we argue that Climathons can create space for collective learning and imagining alternative futures 🌄 🌊 🐮 👩‍🌾

Like most deliberative processes, Climathons must balance the urgency of the climate crisis with the need to include people’s voices; and the drive to achieve consensus with the generative potential of disagreement ⚖️🌍

Returning to PhD Land with a new perspective on my research, and appreciating the fun parts of academic writing as I craft my thesis 🐄🐑🌱🌦️🌍

It was also fascinating/surreal to work in an environment with so much history- highlights were getting to tour the parliamentary archives, exploring the Palace of Westminster, and being in the audience for Prime Minister’s Questions.
