Today is Dominican Independence Day, a great time to celebrate and recognize Dominican culture and all the invaluable contributions Dominicans have made. It is also important that we stand with our Dominican neighbors during these trying times.

On Presidents Day, I co-hosted a shredding and e-cycling event with @Rep_Dougherty and @RepJaredSolomon at Roosevelt Mall. We saw a tremendous turnout of neighbors who stopped by for us to help them safely and securely dispose of unwanted paper documents and electronic devices.

Rev. Jesse Jackson was a giant of a man- a civil rights icon who dedicated his life to fighting racial injustice. I had the honor to meet Rev. Jackson at the State Capitol in 2024 and thank him for all he has done for Black Americans and our country. May he rest in peace.
