@HWT_PE @HarrowsDarts You are way ahead of the curve 🎯 Darts should be a national school sport, not all children are runners and enjoy team sports where they can win. Darts fills that void, the hand eye coordination link is key, shows postural control. Good activity for children with dyspraxia.

@HWT_PE @HarrowsDarts That is absolutely amazing!!! The best activity for developing hand eye coordination whilst having fun. Being active doesn’t mean being sweaty, throwing your arrows, walking to the ochy, walking back, socialising with your friends all adds up to high amounts of energy 🎯🙌🔥

@lucamae1987 I wonder if the stiffness comes with runners who have hypermobility of the knee and employ a heel strike static compensatory strategy.

@function2fitnes Great post, we’ve found that a vertical and horizontal loaded shear from a 2 wheel scooter is more of a stress tester for the glutes and vmo than vertical only SLS. Gives you significant more insight into the kinetic chain weakness.

🦋 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐭. 𝟑𝟎 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐬. 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐲! The Single Leg Stand test has become a staple in my clinical assessment — and for good reason. When a patient reports lateral hip pain, one of the first things I want to know is whether load through the gluteal tendons is provoking their symptoms. The single leg stand (30 seconds, unilateral) does exactly that — it places a sustained compressive and tensile load on the gluteal tendon, reproducing the patient's familiar pain. What makes this test particularly useful in practice is its high specificity. That means when it is positive, you can be reasonably confident you're dealing with gluteal tendinopathy — it's not picking up a lot of false positives. For me, that clinical certainty is invaluable when explaining the diagnosis to a patient and mapping out a loading programme. 💡 Clinical pearl: I always ask the patient to confirm whether the pain reproduced matches their usual symptoms — location, quality, familiarity. A positive test paired with a familiar pain response gives you real diagnostic confidence. It's a simple, low-tech, no-cost test that takes half a minute. If it's not already in your hip assessment toolkit, it's worth adding. 📍 This is just one of the topics I'll be exploring in the current management of hip tendons on my upcoming 1 day Big 4 TENDINOPATHY course in Holland Fysiolinks in two weeks — which has already sold out, where I will cover all the 4 tendons (Gluteal, Adductor, Proximal Hamstrings and Hip Flexor) Excited to dive deeper into this with a fantastic group of clinicians!

@Paddypatman @PaulGarvey4 @cremieuxrecueil It’s physiological, 32% of people have more elastin than collagen in their knee joint. 1% of hypermobility is enough to throw your proximal axis off line making walking an uphill battle whilst causing unnecessary wear and tear on knee joint.

Researchers put together an incredible workplace wellness program that provided thousands of workers with paid time off to receive biometric health screening, health risk assessments, smoking cessation help, stress management, exercise, etc. What did this do for their health?🧵

@PaulGarvey4 @cremieuxrecueil We can help with that question 🙋 32% of population have knee hypermobility putting their centre of mass in heels instead of midfoot. This is like walking with wellies 3 sizes to big and it becomes futile, so they give up unaware of their invisible condition.

@cremieuxrecueil Fascinating. It really makes you think. Doing hard stuff is hard, but my question is, what motivated the health conscious people to be health conscious in the first place? And what put the non-participants off being health conscious and thus not choosing to be on the programme?

@grok @sahilcs1 @MolecularLab_ @grok what is this person was overweight and had generalised joint hypermobility of the knee and was heel dominant in movement and used static compensation strategy of joint locking instead of muscles like non hypermobile people. Would this accelerate wear and tear & how much?

Here's a summary of the key points from the video on knee pain after 45: - Cartilage cushioning in knees wears down after 40-45, causing bones to grind and pain. - Processed foods and sugars trigger inflammation, leading to joint swelling; this contributes to 50%+ of joint issues by age 50. - Omega-3 acts as an anti-inflammatory "firefighter," reducing inflammation in 8 weeks and serving as a natural lubricant. - Hydration (water) provides joint cushioning, reduces pain, and aids in flushing toxins. - Turmeric with black pepper is as powerful as ibuprofen for pain relief, gentle on the stomach; take twice daily with breakfast for results in 3 weeks. These align with some studies, but consult a doctor for personalized advice. (348 chars)

@AdamMeakins The biggest drawback is relying on static tests for knee injury. Using a static test to assess a knee is like watching a parked car to gauge its speed. Tells you nothing about how it behaves under load. You only get the real picture with a dynamic balance assessment.

Just as manual therapists need to accept there is little skill or specificity in their rubbing, poking, and cracking treatments for painful problems and that they often don’t outperform placebos… So exercise therapists also need to accept that there is little skill or specificity in their stretching, strengthening, and stabilising treatments and also little evidence they outperform placebos for reducing pain as well!
