@WomenAreReals And it sounds like you’re against transgender women? As a feminist and pansexual woman, all I can say is what are you gaining by causing pain to people you should be embracing? Beyond heartbreaking!

@jk_rowling My daughter and I waited on long lines for the next Harry Potter books. Books that inspired her to read. My daughter is transgender. She cried when she read your shameful statements about transgender people. Why? What do you gain by causing pain?

@jk_rowling I know this will be read by Rowling’s people if not AI. I understand that. I’m a grandmother and it breaks my heart that I can’t share with my granddaughter any of Rowling’s books or stories.

I may be tired and a little hoarse, but as I said again and again on the Senate floor, this is a moment where we cannot afford to be silent, when we must speak up. What’s most clear to me tonight is that this is just the beginning, that Americans across this country, no matter their title or party, are ready to be heard. I believe that history will show we rose to meet this moment. It will show we did not let the chaos and division go unanswered. It will show that when our president chose to spread lies and sow fear, we chose to come together, to work together, and to rise together.
