The EU's rule-of-law trap: 🇪🇺’s decision to unlock funds for 🇵🇱 after @donaldtusk became PM shows that rule-of-law concerns are just an excuse to influence national policies and elections. This legal expert was right when he said so in this video ITW. youtube.com/watch?v=IDZvnn…

👉🏻Spain plans to grant legal residence to 500,000–700,000 irregular migrants who arrived before the end of 2025. ➡️Residence permits issued by Spain will allow these migrants to travel freely across the Schengen Area for up to 90 days. ➡️Ordo Iuris warns this could create a new “pull factor” for irregular migration and pose security risks due to difficulties in verifying criminal records. 👉🏻The Institute argues that Spain’s decision may violate key EU Treaty principles, including sincere cooperation and common immigration policy. 👉🏻EU governments are urged to consider reintroducing border controls and, if necessary, legal action before the Court of Justice of the EU. ➡️Although the European Court of Human Rights remains one of the most influential international institutions, its administrative structure is inefficient and suffers from a massive backlog. ✅In 2025, as before, it called for the formalization of same-sex unions and judicial reform in Poland, as well as more lenient treatment of illegal immigrants in Hungary. 👉🏻The most complaints were lodged against Turkey (over 18,000), Russia (over 17,000), Ukraine (over 4,000), and Poland (over 3,500). ➡️On several occasions, the Court has invented new human rights that have no basis in the text of the Convention, resorting to a dynamic interpretation. ✅Read more: ordoiuris.pl/en/analyses/re…

It should be taken into account when an in-depth report on the Hungarian elections is released. The level of international interference in 🇭🇺 is likely to exceed that experienced in Poland or Romania. 🇪🇺 is sharpening the tools of “managed democracy.” We must protect the sovereignty of nations and their democratic institutions. Liberty 🗽 is at stake.
Gladden Pappin@gjpappin

🇭🇺🇪🇺HOW CONVENIENT. Just days before Hungary’s parliamentary elections, the European Commission *openly* admitted it has activated the Digital Services Act’s “rapid response system” to police “potential disinformation campaigns.” EU-funded “fact-checkers” will meddle with Meta, TikTok & others to throttle, label or even disappear content they dislike in a European election—or else face severe fines from Brussels. Of course, the Washington Post’s Russiagate-redux—claiming that Russian disinformation teams, Russia-Russia assassination plotters and Russia-Russia-Russia are lurking everywhere in Hungary—will not be flagged. The @JudiciaryGOP’s warnings about the DSA are basically being proven true in real time. The EU is making up for what USAID once did—& as @MikeBenzCyber pointed out long ago, the EU is taking over where USAID left off. Thankfully, @elonmusk is trying to resist exactly this kind of interference. And Hungary is, too.

On Saturday at #CPACHungary, Zbigniew Przybyłowski of the Ordo Iuris Institute appeared alongside @BolsonaroSP from Brazil, and delivered this warning from Poland on what the “rule of law” really means in the EU: “When, two and a half years ago, we were facing pressure from the European Union, it was exerted not only at the political level but also financially. The EU withheld funds from us, citing alleged breaches of the rule of law. Remarkably, these alleged breaches seemed to vanish once the government changed. From what I understand, the same is happening to you. Should the current Prime Minister lose office, Hungary’s alleged breaches of the rule of law will magically disappear just as quickly as they did in Poland. Following our election, we were confronted with two processes. One is referred to as “militant democracy,” and the other as “transitional justice.” Both are similar in practice, and they mean that the left-wingers, the globalists, in their initial period of government, are going to break as many laws as necessary to consolidate their power.”

🚨EU COURT MANDATES LEGAL SEX CHANGE FOR EVERY EU COUNTRY The EU's top court has ruled that EU countries MUST "respect" the "right" of individuals to register in their chosen gender identity. Ruling against Bulgarian laws that "the term ‘sex’ must be understood in its biological sense", the CJEU found that such laws apparently "undermine freedom of movement" for people who have changed gender who want to live and work in Bulgaria. Not only is the ruling an attack on common sense and national democratic rights, it is an outstanding example of how the EU pushes the normalisation of "EU values" on LGBT issues through the supposedly neutral legal architecture of the common market. Those creating the EU market would have never imagined that rules to allow free trade would be used to push radical transgender ideology. Next stop, self-ID for all? The ruling concerns an individual who has undergone some degree of "medical transition". But given the EU's latest NGO-driven push for radical "self-ID", it is presumably only a matter of time before the EU courts also rule that anyone must be recognised as their self-chosen gender, regardless of what steps they have taken to transition. One final power grab? Also snuck into the ruling is a dangerous assertion of the absolute power of the EU court. The ruling insisted that " EU law precludes a court from being bound by its constitutional court’s interpretation where that interpretation impedes the application of EU law as interpreted by the Court". In other words, not only must countries be bound by the sprawling empire of EU law, but their own sovereign courts must defer entirely to the "interpretation" of the EU courts.

That's good news for Poland's sovereignty and security!
Ordo Iuris International@OrdoIuris_Int

On March 12, 2026, Karol Nawrocki, President of Poland, announced that he would not sign into law the act passed by the Polish Parliament authorizing the €43.7 billion EU SAFE credit for Poland. Security Action for Europe (SAFE) is an EU loan program that enables the financing of defense procurement through long-term, euro-denominated debt issued by the European Union. That same morning, representatives of the Ordo Iuris Institute met with @M_Kotecki at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw, handing over 38,000 signatures from citizens appealing to President Nawrocki to veto the act. Ordo Iuris had also submitted to the President legal analyses highlighting the unacceptable transfer of sovereignty that would accompany the SAFE 45-year credit. 👉Read our analysis on the rule-of-law conditionality mechanism embedded into Council Regulation (EU) 2025/1106 of 27 May 2025 establishing the Security Action for Europe (SAFE) through the Reinforcement of the European Defence Industry Instrument: ordoiuris.pl/en/analyses/th…

‼️Polish President Karol Nawrocki could veto a law passed by the EU-backed, left-liberal government of Prime Minister Donald Tusk that would allow Poland to borrow around €44 billion through the EU’s defence-financing instrument, with the European Commission acting as intermediary. 👉The legislation would enable Poland to participate in the EU’s Security Action for Europe (SAFE) mechanism, created to support defence spending and military procurement across the European Union. 👉SAFE is intended to strengthen Europe’s defence industry and help member states finance the purchase of military equipment and the development of defence capabilities. ⚠️However, a new analysis highlights significant legal and political risks associated with this mechanism. ❗️Under the SAFE regulation, the disbursement of funds may be linked to compliance with the EU’s so-called “rule of law” standards through a conditionality mechanism. ➡️In practice, this means that access to financing could depend on political and legal assessments made by EU institutions. ➡️The analysis warns that this framework could give the European Commission considerable discretion in determining whether member states meet the required conditions. ➡️Because the criteria connected to the rule of law are broad and open to interpretation, EU institutions could potentially use the mechanism to exert political pressure on national governments. ❗️This concern is not purely theoretical. The conditionality mechanism ties financial support to evaluations conducted by EU bodies, creating a situation in which funding decisions may become intertwined with broader political disputes between Brussels and member states. ⚠️As a result, what appears to be a financial instrument designed to strengthen Europe’s defence capabilities could also become a powerful tool of influence within the EU’s political system. ➡️For Poland and other member states, the debate around SAFE therefore goes beyond defence financing. It raises a broader question about the balance between necessary cooperation in security policy and the preservation of national sovereignty in key areas of decision-making. ⁉️Whether President Nawrocki ultimately signs or vetoes the law could thus have implications not only for Poland’s defence funding—but also for the evolving relationship between EU institutions and member states. 👉Read our full analysis: ordoiuris.pl/en/analyses/th…

Regarding the European "citizens' initiative" #MyVoiceMyChoice, on which the European Commission is to decide today whether the EU should organize and finance a system of abortion tourism throughout the Union, interesting things can be read in the studies by @ECLJ_Official: 🔴The European Citizens' Intitiative (ECI) is intended to serve as an instrument of participatory democracy, enabling citizens to invite the Commission to consider possible action on matters within Union competence on the basis of a civic initiative originating from socjety. 🔴From this perspective, it is notable that several organisations which publicly support the My Voice, My Choice (MVMC) initiative receive substantial “operating grants” under Union funding programmes, most notably the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (“CERV”) programme. 🔴Our analytical study indicates that a significant number of organisations supporting the MVMC initiative benefit from substantial public and private funding dedicated to sexual and reproductive health and rights advocacy. 🔴Of approximately 254 supporting organisations, at least 19 have received funding from European Union programmes, and around 20 have received funding from the Open Society Foundations. Several also maintain operational or strategic links with the International Planned Parenthood Federation (“IPPF”). 🔴More broadly, the support network includes organisations with long-standing financial ties to major private foundations, including the Open Society Foundation, the Gates Foundation, the Ford Foundation, the MacArthur Foundation, and the David and Lucile Packard Foundation, as well as direct EU funding. 🔴By way of illustration, IPPF’s European network has received more than €3.2 million in EU funding in recent years. 🔴In addition, the MVMC initiative’s principal organiser, Nika Kovač, is linked to an organisation that has reportedly received funding from the Open Society Foundation and support from IPPF. 🔴Taken together, these elements suggest that the MVMC initiative operates within a well resourced and structured advocacy environment, rather than arising exclusively from decentralised civic mobilisation. Every citizen of an EU country who cares for national sovereignty and security should read this...

🛑The New SAFE mechanism to finance defense in the EU: another tool for exerting influence on member states? ➡️Read the Ordo Iuris analysis that shows how the Conditionality Regulation entails numerous risks for the disbursement of funds to EU Member States under SAFE: ordoiuris.pl/en/analyses/th… ⚠️First, the EU Conditionality Regulation will apply to the SAFE Regulation. ➡️Secondly, as the analysis shows, the EU institutions have already paved the way for the broad application of the Conditionality Regulation. The Hungarian and Slovak examples demonstrate that it can be used as a means of pressuring Member States pursuing policies normally independent of the EU in a wide variety of areas. 👉🏻Third, the broadly worded provisions of the Conditionality Regulation create room for the European Commission to intervene amid an ongoing rule-of-law dispute as it has done in Poland. ➡️Fourth, among liberal commentators and, occasionally, politicians, there are recurring calls to "starve" governments that are deemed populist by cutting off their sources of funding. ➡️Fifth, the sensitivity of the issue regulated by the SAFE Regulation (security) makes it politically very risky to oppose the threats coming from Brussels. ❌As in the case of NextGenerationEU, despite the lack of disbursement of funds, the Member State would have to bear the costs of repaying the debt!

📄 A new legal report has been published, prepared by @MCC_Budapest and @mri_hungary in cooperation with @OrdoIuris / @OrdoIuris_Int, examining how EU Member States can regain competence over immigration control in line with the principle of subsidiarity.
Ordo Iuris International@OrdoIuris_Int

❌EU migration and asylum policy is not an exclusive EU competence; core powers over borders, security, and admissions remain with member states. 🛑The upcoming EU Migration Pact risks deepening failures, encouraging mass migration and forced relocations while deportations remain ineffective. ❌Renationalization aligns with subsidiarity, democratic accountability, and international law, rather than undermining the EU. 👉🏻The new report Taking Back Control from Brussels: The Renationalization of the EU Migration and Asylum Policies, prepared by the @MCC_Budapest in Budapest and Hungary’s @mri_hungary in cooperation with @OrdoIuris, addresses one of the most pressing political and legal challenges facing Europe today: the loss of national control over migration policy. 👉🏻The report provides a practical, immediate legal roadmap for member states to reassert control while respecting existing treaties and obligations. @jerzKwasniewski, @rodballester, @YannCaspar, @VMarsai, @gonczi_robert, @BalazsOrban_HU Read more: ordoiuris.pl/en/reports/tak…

On 6 January, known as Epiphany or Three Kings’ Day, costume processions with Three Kings & nativity scenes take place all over Poland. The parade honours the three wise men - Kaspar, Melchior and Balthazar - who visited Jesus after His birth. Last year, more than a million people attended. Did we break the record in 2026?

“As EU institutions increasingly interfere in areas such as family law, bioethics, freedom of conscience, and internal security, the gap between decision-makers and citizens widens. National electorates can vote governments out of office, but they cannot vote out European judges or commissioners who redefine the scope of EU power.” - An op-ed for the Brussels Signal by Polish lawyer @jerzKwasniewski, the president of the @OrdoIuris Institute.

COMMENT: The European Parliament's resolution endorsing the 'My Voice, My Choice' initiative is the latest example of the EU's growing and deeply troubling overreach into areas that remain, in theory at least, the exclusive competence of Member States, writes @jerzKwasniewski. brusselssignal.eu/2025/12/how-eu…

🇪🇺The European Parliament is once again trying to expand the EU’s powers in an area that, according to the treaties, remains the exclusive domain of the member states. 🫸“The Commission should not have allowed a proposal in an area they don’t have competence in, such as abortion, especially when it requires financial aid to overcome national laws,” rightly said Spanish MEP @MargaPisa from @VOX_Europa_ / @PatriotsEP 🔴The resolution in favor of the “My Voice, My Choice” citizens’ initiative for EU-funded abortion tourism across Europe was adopted by 358 votes to 202, with 79 abstentions. 🔴Although the document is not legally binding, it sends a political signal to the European Commission which, in accordance with the European Citizens’ Initiative procedure, is required to respond to it by March 2026. ✅Before the plenary debate and the earlier public hearing of the initiative, which took place on December 2, 2025, at the European Parliament, the Ordo Iuris Institute provided Members of the European Parliament with a detailed memorandum. ✅This memorandum highlighted the European Union’s lack of competence to regulate abortion, the incompatibility of the proposed mechanism with the principle of subsidiarity, and the risk of circumventing national constitutional orders through financial instruments. ✅Ordo Iuris called on Members of the European Parliament to vote against the resolution. ✅Right-wing groups in the European Parliament (@ecrgroup, @PatriotsEP, @ESNgroup_EU) voted overwhelmingly against this shameful resolution. 👉Read more: ➡️ordoiuris.pl/en/press-newsd…
