Half a million people march in London. A lorry filled with Kit Kats gets stolen. Guess which story got bigger coverage on @BBC6Music news? It was, of course, the lorry. Any explanation @NickyAACampbell @vicderbyshire ?

Sir Norman of Nowhere. 🏴‍☠️
Whenever I'm having a bad day, I watch this and it instantly cheers me up. Enjoy your day, and solidarity with anyone marching against the far-right today.

For whoever needs to hear this I'm the only Jewish person to lead a political party - third largest in the country. The Daily Mail have been & always will be my enemy - they historically supported fascists & continue to do so. I'll take no lectures from them on Antisemitism.

How can the BBC justify how much coverage they give other marches which are significantly smaller in size? The bias is so obviously blatant. theguardian.com/uk-news/live/2…

Eddie Marsan railing against inequality & trickle down economics We had an opportunity to introduce mild social democracy that would have started to address these very issues & people like Marsan spent years trashing it. Now he's back to proclaiming his progressive credentials.

@nx422 @NoThirdMan Not so. They adopted a game that already existed and then adapted it to suit their own needs - ie gambling. One of the game’s greatest historical fallacies is the aristocracy getting the credit for ‘creating’ cricket.

@NoThirdMan Cricket came from the upper classes, the elite levels have largely remained out if reachi of the masses, that's why it is a minority sport in comparison. There are too many factors against it ever being anything else.

Is it true that in any men's professional cricket match in England & Wales, on average, around 10 of the 22 players will have come from approx 0.5% of the general population, ie. from families who paid for their child to go to a top 100 cricketing independent school?

Massive bombshell. Trump whines on camera that Australia refused to help with his Iran war, only for the Australian Prime Minister to reveal on live TV that Washington didn't even consult them before launching the attack. The US has gone completely rogue.

@StoneDunk @Alex_Niven I like the first album well enough and they had their moments later on but def a literal and figurative backwards step overall. Covered quite well in this book (and documentary):

Always kind of thought the Libertines were the Oasis of the 00s: a band older music heads thought were embarrassing, but if you were the right age you got it. Maybe that’s true, but hard to see that the actual music (bar one or two so-so party tunes) will have any sort of legacy

@joel_ca_c @Alex_Niven Saw them at the height of the ‘hype’ (NME has much to answer for) in 2002. The support act (the wonderful Stereo Total) wiped the floor with them. I was sorely tempted to walk out on TS and their Oasis-like ‘couldn’t care less’ performance. Not for me. 😬

@Alex_Niven Their music and legacy suffers from the same problem encountered by The Strokes, which is the Simon Reynolds "Retromania" thesis - you can only "go back to basics" so many times before it just becomes cannibalistic regurgitation (mixed metaphors ahoy).
