From “status quo ante bellum” to Nafiu’s “Chiarman” spelling to @inecnigeria’s affidavit that affirmed Senator David Mark’s leadership —this document shows that @inecnigeria has A LOT of questions to answer. Read here: bit.ly/NafiuGombeCase

ADC Raises Alarm Over INEC Landmines - Plot to Prevent Party From Fielding Candidates We are compelled to raise serious concerns about a developing situation that appears designed to prevent the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from fielding candidates in the upcoming elections. It is based on documentary evidence which we are now placing before the Nigerian public, including certified INEC records, attendance logs, monitoring reports, and excerpts from the Commission’s own sworn affidavit. Taken together, these documents establish a clear and consistent record of events. View the records here: bit.ly/NafiuGombeCase INEC received formal notice of the July 29, 2025 National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the ADC. It deployed officials to monitor that meeting. It documented the proceedings and received formal reports from its field officers. Following this, INEC updated its internal records and uploaded the names of the new leadership, including Senator David Mark as National Chairman and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as National Secretary. These are not claims. They are facts contained in INEC’s own records. In addition, the Commission’s sworn affidavit before the Federal High Court, in its response to Nafiu Bala Gombe on 12 September 2025, particularly in Clauses 14 to 19, affirms key legal principles: that the leadership transition had already been completed and recognized, that such internal party matters fall outside the scope of judicial interference, that completed acts cannot be reversed by injunction, and also recognizes the David Mark-led NWC. Yet, despite this clear documentary trail, INEC has now taken the position that it will no longer receive any correspondence from the ADC pending the determination of a matter before the Federal High Court. This is where the contradiction becomes dangerous. The Electoral Act imposes strict timelines on political parties, including the 21-day notice requirement and submission deadlines. INEC itself has fixed May 10 as the deadline for the submission of relevant documents. However, by refusing to receive communication from the ADC within this same period, the Commission is effectively preventing the Party from complying with the law. In simple terms, INEC is effectively threatening that unless the courts deliver judgment on the ADC leadership issue by May 10, it will prevent the ADC from producing candidates. This places the ADC in an impossible position and creates a clear pathway to artificial non-compliance, which can then be used to justify excluding the Party from fielding candidates. That is the landmine. INEC has claimed that its April 1 decision was taken to avoid rendering the proceedings before the Federal High Court nugatory. The reality is the opposite. By intervening in a matter already before the court and issuing a pronouncement with clear legal and operational consequences, the Commission has itself undermined the very process it claims to protect. What is even more concerning is that this position contradicts INEC’s own prior conduct and legal stance. The same Commission that monitored, documented, recognized, and swore to an affidavit confirming the ADC leadership is now acting in a way that contradicts its earlier position. We therefore call on the Commission to immediately reverse this position, resume the acceptance of all lawful correspondence from the ADC, and uphold its constitutional responsibility to ensure a level playing field for all political parties. We also call on Nigerians to be wary and remain vigilant about these dangerous machinations to subvert Nigeria’s democracy and impose a civilian dictatorship on the country.

@BolajiADC Hi Bolaji, the man your bosses stole the ADC from is ahead of you. Nafiu Gombe has already gone global to report the hijacking of his party by those he calls "external political actors" and "power mongers". Read his letter to the US Embassy in Nigeria.

Britain is a Christian country. The Conservative Party will always celebrate our Christian heritage with deeds, not just words. This Easter, we want to ensure local churches are properly maintained and repaired so we’re announcing a plan to restore funding for the Listed Places of Worship Grant Scheme which the government has recently placed caps on. Churches matter. They aren’t just important places of worship, in many towns and villages they are the centre of the community and the pride of local people, often steeped in hundreds of years of history. It is critical we maintain them properly, because when they’re gone, this history and heritage could be lost forever. @Conservatives believe we have a responsibility to protect our churches and make sure they endure for future generations.  What are we for if not to conserve the very best of our country and our society for those yet to come? Conservatives will protect our heritage and build a stronger country.

The coordinated campaign against me, orchestrated from abroad and conducted in English, is clear in its false motives. Its tools and methods are evident, and the responses of pro-Iran and pro-Brotherhood voices—along with their insults—reveal clear retaliatory motives. None of this will deter me from my firm stance in defending my country and the Gulf states, and in rejecting the aggressive Iranian attacks that target the Gulf more than they target Israel. I have made it clear in multiple posts that opposing this aggression does not mean I am siding with Israel; we also reject its aggression against Palestine and Gaza.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has carefully reviewed the recent interview granted by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan, and finds it necessary to respond, in order to correct several legal and factual misrepresentations. While the Commission seeks to present its position as one anchored in law and neutrality, the substance of the Chairman’s own statements reveals a fundamental misapplication of both constitutional principles and judicial directives. First, the Chairman’s repeated assertion that INEC is merely acting within the confines of a “multi-party constitutional order” is, with respect, a deflection from the central issue. The question before Nigerians is not whether Nigeria remains a multi-party state in theory, but whether the actions of INEC in practice are undermining the ability of opposition parties to freely organize and function. The ADC has not alleged the abolition of multi-party democracy in form; rather, it has raised concerns about actions that, in effect, weaken it. The Chairman’s reliance on the existence of multiple parties as proof of neutrality does not address the specific conduct under scrutiny. On the issue of the Court of Appeal’s order, the Chairman places heavy reliance on the doctrine of status quo ante bellum, suggesting that it requires a rollback to a particular point in time and a suspension of party activities. This interpretation is both selective and legally flawed. The preservation order, by its nature, is intended to prevent actions that would irreversibly alter the subject matter of litigation, not to paralyze the internal functioning of a political party. The Chairman’s attempt to define the “status quo” by tracing the controversy to internal party developments in July 2025 is an administrative interpretation that INEC is not empowered to make. That determination lies strictly within the jurisdiction of the courts, not the Commission. Furthermore, the Chairman’s claim that holding congresses or conventions would “render proceedings nugatory” is an overreach. Internal party processes, conducted in line with the party’s constitution and the Electoral Act, do not extinguish or prejudice pending judicial proceedings. On the contrary, democratic continuity within a political party is presumed under the law unless expressly restrained by a competent court. No such explicit order prohibiting congresses or conventions has been cited. What exists are general preservation directives, which cannot be expanded into a blanket prohibition on party governance. The assertion that INEC is restrained from monitoring congresses due to an injunction equally exposes a critical misunderstanding of its role. INEC’s duty to monitor is statutory and triggered upon proper notification. A party’s decision to proceed with its internal processes does not depend on INEC’s participation. By conflating its monitoring function with the validity of the processes themselves, INEC effectively places itself above the law, assuming a veto power it does not possess. The Chairman also references conflicting communications from different factions within the ADC as justification for inaction. However, the existence of internal disputes does not suspend a political party’s constitutional rights. Indeed, such disputes are commonplace in democratic systems and are routinely resolved without administrative paralysis. INEC’s role is not to arbitrate these disputes or to freeze party activities pending their resolution, but to maintain neutrality and allow due process to run its course. 1/2

Fourth, Amupitan incompetently compared ADC's situation with Zamfara and Rivers. I really pity this Prof's interpretation of facts and law. He is not displaying intelligence in lying. The issue of Zamfara and Rivers was hinged on disobedience to court orders, not INEC directives. No court has ordered ADC not to proceed with its congresses and primaries. INEC is not a court and has no role in any party’s primaries or congresses. Its role is observatory, which is not compulsory on it to do. The mandatory issue is the giving of 21 days' notice to INEC for the congresses which ADC had done. It is pertinent to note that Amupitan exposed his intent unknowingly here when he was trying to discourage ADC from going on with the congresses and primaries knowing full well that this will mark the end of ADC participation in 2027. This man is dubious. The members who took their parties to court in Zamfara and Rivers were against the manner of conduct of congresses and primaries. It was not a party leadership struggle. The ADC situation is a hostile takeover attempt of ADC by APC using a resigned member of the NWC of ADC and Amupitan as the arrow heads. They will fail. The matter has nothing to do with congresses and primaries. When the matter started in court on 2 September 2025, the issue of congresses and primaries had not arisen. Shame on Amupitan, the liar!

The INEC chairman in his arise interview also said if the ADC does not act fast their case will be no different from what happened to APC in Zamfara 2019 or what happened to PDP in Plateau 2023. The leadership of the ADC must find ways to jump this booby trap set up by INEC. What should be done now ?

“I speak directly to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu: with 90% of the National Assembly and over 30 of Nigeria’s 36 Governors in the APC, President Tinubu, what are you afraid of? “If you are convinced that you have done well for the people who voted for you, why are you afraid of a free, fair, and transparent electoral contest? If you are indeed the democrat that you claim to be, why are you bent on destroying all opposition political parties?” -Senator David Mark, Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC)
