Cycling around Toronto thinking about the city. Sometimes stopping to reposition heavy objects.

My penultimate delivery with @thebikebrigade before we move to Vancouver! The @FYfoodbank is one of my favourite places, and it was great to catch up with Julie! Such an awesome group there. Going to miss the Bike Brigade rides, hoping there's something like it in Vancouver.

New Bathurst Instagram account features testimonials from neighbours that appear to be AI homunculi spawned to spew drivel at the behest of some anonymous puppet master. Props to Shawn for doing the leg work

Sorry but functions that bring more cars into our neighborhood while being in direct proximity to two bus lines and a subway station are what endanger those of us who live and walk here.

@thespikyclub @craigworchard Yep, when you're crossing a 4-lane road you need to be sure all four lanes are clear of traffic. The driver should have slowed and had a good look instead of flooring it and hoping for the best.

the joys of cycling in Toronto. Could have been worse I guess, I wasn't hurt but my Load75 is off to the shop with a bent front rim and disk rotor. Driver stopped and gave me her details. #BikeTO

@BrianPHuntley I'm fine, I managed to slow down a bit before I hit the car. The camera has a 360 view and my slow topple off of the bike as it falls is ridiculous. But looks like the front fork is toast, along with the rim and the brake rotor.

@BrianPHuntley funnily enough, the van I was trying to dodge around was also a Canada Post van, although the crash was fully on me.

@TimWarman I had a Canada Post truck try to pass me on a downhill S-turn w/ another cyclist coming towards us in the contraflow lane (whom the driver didn't see, I imagine.) It was at about the heaviest part of the rainfall - 2 to 2:30. I put out my arm & moved left to block. He honked.

This was my least favourite part of today's ride. A combination of being in a rush, slippery roads, and an unloaded cargo bike with winter studs on the front tire. Fortunately the streetcar behind me was stopped in traffic and the damage to the bike (and me) was only cosmetic.

@BrianPHuntley This was just as it started to rain, which is when the roads are often the most slippery. And a poor time to try and dodge around a van who was trying to parallel park (badly).

And later in the ride, here's a @Bell truck trying to crowd me off the College St. cycle track, because he needed to drive down it for some reason.

@TimWarman @torontomike Would probably get a lot of media attention, if someone were to write out their displeasure with something, like, say, government corruption, just as a random unrelated example.

@Slackfield I'm not even sure why I post these anymore, there's zero enforcement. Cops don't care, because they're among the worst offenders for blocking bike lanes, parking on the sidewalk, rolling stop signs.

Two days running these guys have blocked the new Wellington St. cycle track at rush hour because they were too lazy to park in the loading dock of the building they were working on. Several cyclists asked them to move, but they were not having it.

@BrianPHuntley Wonder what the city's excuse is for not fastening those firmly to the road. It's such an obvious solution.

@RM_Transit In terms of ride quality, buses are the absolute worst. Five minutes into the trip and I'm ready to barf from being jerked and tossed around. Streetcars are vastly superior.

I hate to say it but I too sometimes wonder how much better downtown transit in Toronto would be if it was good buses instead of bad streetcars, such as in Vancouver or London, or Brampton haha

Great to see the developing two-way cycle track on Wellington St., but things get very strange going eastbound when you get to Blue Jays Way. There's an operating bicycle signal and pavement markings that seem to lead you directly into oncoming traffic. #BikeTO
