Matthew 28:19 is one of the most abused texts in Trinitarian apologetics. They say “baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and holy spirit” teaches the Trinity because they share a literal name... But Jesus already wrecked that reading: In Matthew 10:41 KJV, he says: “He that receives a prophet in the NAME of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward… he that receives a righteous man in the NAME of a righteous man will receive... reward" Obviously that does not mean the prophet’s / righteous man’s literal NAME. In Jesus day, "in the name of" was a well known Greek idiom meaning "recognition of the office." "Name" here means recognition of office, role, standing, and authority. Because Jesus himself uses “in the name of” in a way, means that his use in Matthew 28:19 has nothing to do with shared identity. When Matthew 28:19 says to baptize in the name of the Father, Son, and holy spirit, the point is recognition of what each represents in God’s arrangement: • "The Father, Jehovah God, is natural, since he is our Creator and Life-Giver." • The role of the Son as the Christ and means of Salvation in God’s purpose. • "The role of God’s holy spirit because, among other things, God uses his active force to give life (Job 33:4), to inspire his message to humans (2Pe 1:21), and to EMPOWER them to do his will (Ro 15:19)." So Matthew 28:19 is not only proof that a triune god is non-existent in Scripture... But It is proof that Trinitarians keep reading their doctrine into verses that do not teach it.

SNEAKO really made this Christian think after bringing up John 17:3, where Jesus prays and addresses the Father as the only true God “If he was fully God, why would he even pray?”

Yes, they were. Did not Pastor CT Russell and his associates call themselves Bible Students? And did not JF Rutherford deem that those adherents of the Watchtower Society in 1931 would prefer to be called Jehovah’s Witnesses to distinguish themselves from the Bible Students who did not adhere to the Watchtower Society under his leadership?

JWs are the original Unitarians. You'll run into other Unitarians who don't believe Jesus pre-existed as a person in Heaven before his life on earth. But these unfortunately ignore scripture and even early "Church Father" writings. All of which declare Christ's pre-existance.

@kaizen000000000 He’s actually making solid points.. and that because Jesus is not God. He goes on to say the story is fiction but the lesson is actually that Jesus is God’s son and that why 1. He could be tempted at all (you cannot tempt god) and 2. Why he was tempted with power.

That moment you apply logic and critical thinking to the Bible.😅🤦🏼‍♂️ Good thing about this caller is that you can hear him at least thinking about it... most don't even get that far.❤️

@TrueChristian00 You never get to know the creator u only know the creation instead, which is why in the West led to secular ideology and eventually nihilism, since the knowledge about God becomes useless

Saying “God sent him” means nothing since ultimately it was a creature that saves us not God. His unitarian deity never directly interacts with the world, only by indirect creations that he is not identical nor essentially attributable to. You never know God, only created effects

No dumbass its actually the problem of divine interaction and direct knowledge at all, which leads to only knowing created effects, which leads to unknowable God and atheism

If you didn’t already know... You need to understand that there are different “Jesus Christs” to choose from. Each denomination professes to follow Jesus, but preach a very different “Jesus” altogether. This is not a small matter. If the Jesus you trust in is not the real one, then using the right name does not save you from believing the wrong person. Here are the religions with global followings and the "Jesus" that they believe in: Catholics & Orthodox: -Claim that Jesus is literally God because of being a person of the Trinity... theryby having the same eternal "essence" of the Father & Spirit. Mormon Jesus: -Claims Jesus is Jehovah and not the same being as the Father, but a separate divine person/member of the Godhead, united with the Father and Holy Ghost. Jehovah’s Witnesse's Jesus: -Claims Jesus is God's Son and not a person of the Trinity, and therfore has his own unique being, subordinate to his Father Jehovah God. If we are to use just the Bible.. not later councils, creeds, or philosophical jargon, then the Jehovah’s Witnesse view is plainly the correct Jesus rather than the Catholic/Orthodox one: Scripture shows Jesus as distinct from God, sent by God, empowered by God, given authority by God, and subject to God. That is not a co-equal person of a triune essence. That is God’s divine Son under Almighty God. Trinitarianism takes the one constantly distinguished from God and then says he is the same God. That is not biblical precision. That is theological absurdity... Mormonism (LDS) misses it too: It claims Jesus is Jehovah, yet not the same being as the Father, because its Godhead is three separate beings united in purpose. So Trinitarianism confuses Jesus with the God he serves... and Mormonism misidentifies Jesus altogether. One collapses the distinction. The other corrupts the identity. But the Bible’s picture is simpler: One Almighty God, the Father, and one Lord Jesus Christ, His Son.

@jew_jacob2005 @CertainSpeaks What a terrible strawman The name “Jesus” itself points to Jehovah as the source of salvation. Yeho-shua Yeho(vah)-saves

@CertainSpeaks Again Jesus is a man like you or me. If he can save us through his death and resurrection, Jehovah is ultimately useless since we dont need him but other creatures
