@Playlikeajet1 @CarterCritiques Minkah is the kind of heady DB that will be good until his mid 30s. They needed a smart player like him back there. The secondary has been very dumb over the past couple years. Even when Sauce was playing well

“People look at the drop in INTs & think his play slipped. It didn’t. He was still the same great player. Ask Lamar & Burrow. But teams realized they were better off testing the CBs & avoiding Minkah at all costs.” - @CarterCritiques on today’s show ⬇️ podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/pla…

@JetCastPod Would be classic jets to take a one year starter “chess piece” at 2 overall and then pick a one year starter QB at 16

The Jets are staring down a critical decision at QB, and the warning signs are flashing red. 🚨 Since 2011, six of seven first-round quarterbacks with fewer than 17 college starts have failed in the NFL. We're talking Jake Locker, Christian Ponder, Mitchell Trubisky, Blaine Gabbert, Dwayne Haskins, and Anthony Richardson. The only exception? Cam Newton, an NFL MVP. Simpson has just 15 career college starts. He's 23 years old, turning 24 as a rookie, and spent four years at Alabama mostly riding the bench. ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. argues the Jets should take him at No. 16 overall and let him sit behind Geno Smith for a year. But here's the problem with that logic: If Simpson doesn't play in 2026, what happens when the loaded 2027 QB class arrives? The Jets have THREE first-round picks next year, including their own plus picks from the Colts and Cowboys/Packers. Are we really going to pass on potential franchise quarterbacks like Arch Manning or Dante Moore because we drafted a project QB who sat on the bench? Remember Christian Hackenberg in 2016? The Jets took him in the second round, never played him, and we all know how that disaster ended. The Jets need to think long and hard about this one. History isn't on Simpson's side, and the franchise can't afford another QB mistake.

@FrankieVitz The jets are a team with no identity. They’ve got real soft. Especially after trading JFM. They need alphas like Vega who will help establish an identity

“Let’s not talk about NFL careers (@_fournette) because if we’re being honest (top 5 pick), we both had disappointing ones, there’s a reason you’re holding a mic now. So let’s talk about your take… – @EmmanuelAcho responds to Fournette after attacking his career over a Kevin Stefanski take

@bjfmangoldhof2 They’ll dick around with how they’ll use him. Which happens so often with those hybrid guys. I can just picture it now. It’s week 10 in 2027 and the new coaching staff is talking about ways to “unlock” Reese’s potential

@bjfmangoldhof2 Same. Maybe Reese works out. I just feel like a projection pick like that would benefit from going to an established defense. Where he doesn’t have to be the guy right away

Darren Mougey & Aaron Glenn are scheduled to attend Ohio State's Pro Day on Wednesday, per @RichCimini 👀 You know what to do #Jets: Draft Arvell Reese at 2, then trade back up to also get Sonny Styles Get 'em BOTH 🔥✈

@JCaporoso But, knowing the jets, they’ll spend early picks on DBs. Bc it’s always a good idea to draft DBs early when there’s no pass rush

@JCaporoso They’d be wise to double dip at edge early too. And draft an IDL. The team got soft on defense after trading JFM. Ossai, McDonald, Sweat are the only DL under contract next year. Debatable if any are long term pieces. Time to rebuild the DL. Especially in year 1 of a rebuild

I have been surprised by some of the pushback we've got on doubling down on pass catchers early in place of other positions (after going defense at 2). Aware we are in mock draft fatigue season but it feels like #Jets approached FA knowing they'd be very aggressive with offense around the draft and that WR/TE room remains alarmingly light (for now).

If they drafted 2 pass catchers in the top 44 I wouldn’t hate it one bit. Playmakers>>

Busy week ahead for Darren Mougey, Aaron Glenn, Frank Reich and co. Hitting a bunch of Pro Days leading up to the owners meetings next, per source. First: Miami to see Reuben Bain, Akheem Mesidor and Carson Beck. Tuesday, they’ll be at Notre Dame to see their prospects, and possibly get a look at 2027 QB CJ Carr if he works out. Wednesday, they’re hitting Ohio State — lots of prospects to check out, including potentially getting an early look at 2027 QB prospect Julian Sayin. Thursday, they’ll be at Texas Tech, putting work in on EDGE David Bailey, among others.

Feels like the closer we get to the draft, the more possible it is that Ty Simpson could fall to pick #33. In that case, it would be difficult for the #Jets to pass up on taking him, and I believe they absolutely should take a dart throw on Simpson at #33

@Gustoon The current uniforms would benefit from outlining the numbers/stripes in black. Also, change the collar to match the early 90s. It’s too thick and bulky now. But keep the facemask white

@bjfmangoldhof2 My kind of player. Jets need guys with infectious energy who will help this team build an identity. Ponds is one of the few players I feel will hit, regardless of where he lands
