@utdrobbo They are very good players, don’t get me wrong, but the whole point of using data IMO is to reveal overlooked targets that could eventually have an even bigger impact than the obvious ones.

With Sansoni in charge embedding data analytics into recruitment, I have a feeling that we won’t go for Anderson, Baleba or Wharton this summer.

Disagree that it could never have worked with him. There were phases under Jose & Ole when he got that pivot behind where he was constantly getting assists & odd goals. Was never consistent & then injuries happened. But yes could have sold for decent fee to RMA proactively.

For the record, I agree. Pogba's best came when he wasn't in the pivot & had 2 mids behind him - Vidal + Pirlo at Juve, Kante + Rabiot/Matuidi at France, Herrera + Matic under Jose, Fred + Scott under Ole. Where he wasn't expected to be positionally good & had freedom to drive.

@kai679630022906 @saundzo At the same time though, the way you do this is mainly sitting in a block, winning the ball, hitting on the counter and push for second balls, which can work, but finding that balance isnt easy and can easily backfire

@kai679630022906 @saundzo Like, is having 60-70% possesion overrated, ofc not, but getting it purely from the opponent not pressing you and just doing the amorim horseshoe is just stupid Kinda hard to explain shortly cus its all about gamestate and opponent Best thing is being able to do both
