Today, the Ukrainian delegation in Brussels received the European Union’s accession benchmarks for the final three negotiating clusters. This means Ukraine now has the full set of requirements to meet for EU membership. Ukraine is moving confidently along its path to European integration. The swift completion of the official screening of Ukrainian legislation for compliance with EU law demonstrates the country’s institutional capacity and readiness to move to the next stage. The next steps are successful closure of the clusters and signing of the Accession Treaty, the final step toward Ukraine’s full membership in the European Union. Today, Ukraine received the details for Cluster 3 “Competitiveness and Inclusive Growth,” Cluster 4 “Green Agenda and Sustainable Connectivity,” and Cluster 5 “Resources, Agriculture and Cohesion Policy.” In December, the Ukrainian side received the benchmarks for three other clusters: Cluster 1 “Fundamentals of the EU Accession Process,” Cluster 2 “Internal Market,” and Cluster 6 “External Relations.” The Ukrainian government will continue to fulfill the accession requirements, implement the necessary reforms and measures, and report to the EU on progress. Fidesz and its propaganda machine could once again produce nothing but pathetic lies, along with a provocation involving a Ukrainian flag. The "hate march" that Fidesz organized with billions in funding turned out to be one of the smallest so far — even though the ruling party bused large numbers of people into Budapest using pressure and money. Efforts to deal with the aftermath of the massive Russian attack are currently underway in the Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Dnipro, and Mykolaiv regions. All necessary services are involved. The main target for the Russians was the energy infrastructure of the Kyiv region, but unfortunately, there were also direct hits on and damage to ordinary residential buildings, schools, and civilian businesses. As of now, four people have been reported killed. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Many people have been injured, and some are still seeking medical assistance. Over the course of the night, the Russians launched around 430 drones of various types and a significant number of missiles. There were 13 ballistic missiles alone, and the total number of missiles in this attack was 68. According to preliminary data, 58 of them were intercepted by our air defense system. And every such night of Russian strikes is a reminder to all our partners that air defenses and the missiles for them are effectively a daily necessity. Every agreement on missile supplies cannot wait – everything must be implemented as quickly as possible. Our agreements to increase the production of air defense missiles are a critical direction, and this direction requires one hundred percent attention. Russia will try to exploit the war in the Middle East to cause even greater destruction here in Europe, in Ukraine. This is why we must be fully aware of the real level of the threat and prepare accordingly, namely: in Europe, we need to develop the production of air defense missiles – especially those capable of countering ballistic threats – as well as all other systems necessary to truly protect lives, regardless of what may be happening in any other part of the world. Europe is able to ensure this level of reliable protection. Thank you to everyone who is helping!

En påtår svart kaffe. Kustbevakningen har nu ikväll, för andra gången inom loppet av en vecka, bordat ett misstänkt skuggflottefartyg på svenskt territorialvatten. Fartyget går under namnet Sea Owl 1 och är misstänkt statslöst. Hon finns med på EU:s sanktionslista och fraktar olja eller annat flytande bränsle. Precis som under operation Svart kaffe så har detta skett med hjälp av nationella insatsstyrkan och i samverkan med berörda myndigheter. Den ryska skuggflottan utgör ett betydande säkerhets- och miljöhot. Flottan består av hundratals fartyg som ofta är ålderstigna, undermåligt underhållna, falskflaggade eller helt statslösa. Problembilden handlar framför allt om kringgående av sanktioner mot Ryssland, särskilt gällande oljeexport, men också om miljö, dåligt sjömanskap och bristande försäkringsarrangemang. En omfattande olycka riskerar att orsaka stor skada och skulle kräva omfattande resurser för räddningstjänst och sanering. Skuggflottan har dessutom ofta en central betydelse för rysk ekonomi, och för förutsättningarna att bedriva kriget mot Ukraina. Mot bakgrund av detta ser regeringen att en aktiv motverkanspolitik är nödvändig. De tider som vi lever i ställer höga anspråk på rådighet och handlingskraftigt agerande, vilket svenska myndigheter än en gång har visat prov på.
