My profile of Bruce Damer — computer scientist, psychonaut, astrophysicist — and how he became the first protocell during an ayahuasca trip. Psychedelics, he told me, shape the lens of the mind. ‘Suddenly new things come into view.’ For @NautilusMag nautil.us/the-psychedeli…

Across 6 hours of talks, one theme rang clear: life is collaboration. Born of trial & error, shaped by chaos, yet propelled by a force that seems to want life to exist. As @bdamer shared with @ThouArtThat : “Death wrote the code of life.”

If you’re in Denver tomorrow and attending #psychedelicscience2025 I’ll be on stage with Jim Fadiman presenting the @centerforminds and the launch of Psychedelics and the Science of Insight, researching their role as creative catalysts for science, tech, design and leadership.

25 years ago today, Terence McKenna dissolved his last boundary and left this world for the next. In honor of this "Terence Day" 2025 I'd like to share a post I penned recently about my time TM and all that happened as a result... drbrucedamer.substack.com/p/how-a-fortui…

Say does anyone here on X know of a good person or company to create Wikipedia pages? My old university is looking at creating one for yours truly (never got around to this personally other than the Digibarn project).

@KellyDobitz @bdamer I love that idea! Might be better done as a separate podcast, though. Something I’d love to put together soon 😉

Today I learned that two of my favorite scientists, Dr. Nick Lane and @bdamer who have opposing views as to where life began (deep sea hydrothermal vents vs hot spring pools), met a few years back. Oh, to have been a fly on the wall. I would have loved to have heard that debate.

@KellyDobitz Indeed it would! You are welcome to become involved, even if it is just to host such a discussion Kelly

@bdamer That’s so cool! Both of you make compelling arguments. A discussion between the two of you would make a fascinating podcast episode or public event! I certainly am inspired by the work being done in this field. I just hope I can someday help test your hypothesis! 🙂

This is a very nice pre-print. Inching closer to actual evidence for anatomical neuroplasticity in living human brain. Many seem unaware we don't yet have such evidence researchsquare.com/article/rs-424…
