🚨 Newcastle United's executive team still have faith in under-pressure manager Eddie Howe, while a high turnover of players is expected at St James' Park this summer. Howe has come under pressure after a harrowing week which ended with yet another defeat by Sunderland in the derby. (Source: @MailSport)

@RokerReport Suppose you can understand Given, he did put in a shift for them, but Bridges only played for them for five minutes and his fifteen minutes of fame were with us.

@CDC2584 @BBCMOTD I've relegated us to L2 I see. It was bad but not that bad. That should be Championship & L1.

@CDC2584 @BBCMOTD Fair point but a little misleading as we did have two Englishmen in the team and four more on the bench. We had the only academy player(Rigg)on the pitch and two more on the bench. Newcastle none. In L1 and L2 we had youngest teams made up of largely English academy players.

Chris Rigg & The whole of Sunderland after 10 minutes… Swipe right for 90 minutes 😉 Winning at St James’ Park… special. Knowing what it means to this city ❤️🤍 That makes it even bigger 🥹 But if I’m honest… I had to do it the hard way. 10 minutes in… mistake. And in that moment, you feel like the ground could swallow you up. Like you’ve let down a whole city. That feeling is real. And it’s horrendous. But this is where the work kicks in. For years I’ve worked on my mindset for moments like this and it’s something I now try to pass on to the young players we mentor through Inner Game Academy. Breathe. Self talk. Next action. Not “why did I do that?” Not “what are people thinking?” Just… next action. It all sounds simple in theory. Putting it into practice in moments like that is the hard part. Every player makes mistakes. The best players don’t dwell. They respond. I’m so proud of this team. They had my back when I needed it most. And after the error, they kept demanding from me and from each other relentlessly. To win it in the 90th minute at St James’… That’s one I will never forget ❤️🤍 P.s. Why are there loads of empty seats in the background?

@JamesCopley_ Agree with your sentiments but it's not the whole story is it? Journos on Tyneside have taken a pact of silence never to mention that our club is owned by a repressive regime which apart from horrendous human rights abuses also operates a racist policy towards migrant workers 1/2

Felt compelled to write this. Sunday should have been about Sunderland’s win at St James’s Park - but racism took over narrative. This isn’t what our derby should be about. It needs tackling together, not through tribal point-scoring. #SAFC | #NUFC sunderlandecho.com/sport/football…

@donhutch4 Speaking as a #safc I was disgusted he wasn't contacted by FA,as a matter of courtesy, when they appointed Tuchel. He was/is currently the best performing English manager. It's a situation that'll be rectified when we bomb out of the W Cup.Mark my words, England manager next season

Who realistically would you swap him for mate? Take into consideration E Howe took Newcastle out the bottom 3. Twice into Champions Lge. Won a trophy. No1 has done that in over 70 years. The PSG walloping fans will never forget at home
Alan1967@Alan19673

@donhutch4 We are grateful for what he's achieved, but the fact is he's not going to take the club any further. And if the owners want to be number one, he isn't the manager to do it. He's limited by his ability. If he was as good as you think he is, the top clubs would be in for him.

@PeteGravesTV As #safc fan I think it was disgraceful & disrespectful that he wasn't contacted by FA. when they appointed Tuchel. I think that may be rectified when we fail in the World Cup.

One final thought. And listen, I appreciate all the replies. Helps me gauge online fan opinion. If the "Eddie out" crew get their wish. Do you think he'd struggle to find another job? Or quickly pop up at one of our rivals? He's the best English manager by a mile.

Ben White's return to the England fold after his lengthy self-imposed exile borders on the insulting to Trent Alexander-Arnold, who continues to be overlooked by Thomas Tuchel at right-back. Reece James injured, Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier retired internationally and now the withdrawal of Jarell Quansah (seen as right-back cover by Tuchel). And Alexander-Arnold still not called. Real Madrid's right-back in the Champions League. A player whose passing can change games. A tournament shootout penalty-taker. White drafted into squad because of injury to Quansah. Be interesting to see the reaction of England fans - let alone Alexander-Arnold. White has to explain why he turned his back on England for three and a half years. Expect some skilled FA video content. Gareth Southgate said in March 2024 that White had indicated to him that he didn't want to be considered for England. There's always been speculation about a fall-out between White and Southgate's assistant Steve Holland (Southgate denied this). Tuchel clearly doesn't rate Alexander-Arnold, a situation that gets ever stranger. White obviously a more defensive full-back; can get forward but lacks Alexander-Arnold's impact. He did well when coming on for Dani Carvajal against Atletico last night. Made Vinicius Junior's second goal. Harvey Barnes, who has one cap, comes in for the injured Eberechi Eze for the squad to face Uruguay on Friday and Japan on March 31. #ENG
