No. Referendums are populist. That's what Remainers used to tell us. They even tried to get the result of the 2016 one ignored such was their contempt for public opinion.

@TeresaWeath I remember when Remainers had no respect for public opinion. They bitterly opposed holding a referendum and then tried to get the result ignored. Now they have the utmost respect for public opinion. Hilarious hypocrisy.

@jlbps I just think it's worth reminding people that private sector provision, for profit, has been the main source of NHS care since day 1 in 1948. The NHS cannot be privatised because most of its care is already, and always has been, done by private contractors.

@PaulAllenSK1 @wesstreeting It's greedy to expect your wages to return to 2008 levels when most of the people who would have to fund it, the working people of the UK, are never going to return to those levels themselves. And when most of those people earn far less than doctors during their working lives.

Any further comment @wesstreeting after your claim the NHS couldn't function without private service providers? How many private services could be replaced if the total cost of those services including the £1.6Bn profit was directly invested in the NHS to provide those services?

We’re told we can’t afford doctors. But we can afford £1.6 BILLION in profits for private companies. These are deliberate choices to move NHS money into private hands, not frontline care. The government's privatisation of the NHS isn't so secret anymore.

@jlbps It's about private sector provision to the NHS. I'm reminding people that the private sector is and always has been responsible for the vast majority of NHS care because GP practices practices are private businesses.

@jlbps But GP practices are private firms. No getting away from that. GPs were asked to join the NHS as employees in 1948 but refused. They insisted on being private contactors to it. They still do.

@ZackPolanski Nearly all NHS health care is provided by the private sector - GP surgeries, dentists surgeries and opticians. The NHS is entirely funded by the private sector.
