Realistically speaking we could have kept KDB another season and played him deeper. He wouldn’t have been fit all the time but his intelligence and chance creation would have made up for it. I don’t see how players like Kovacic, Reijnders etc offer anything more than that

There is nothing wrong with Guehi as a player. I also wonder how Dias, Gvardiol, Guehi, Khusanov, Alleyne and Reis works as a cohort. I don't see the latter making it here in that case, to be honest.

Thank god people are starting to wake up instead of seeing the new flashy toy we might be getting. It’s more of a curse than a blessing getting this guy. And it gets worse for Reis and max Alleyne who both have more potential than guehi. Alleyne might even be better than him now lol.

If Dias would accept a rotational/leadership kinda role it might be fine but I doubt that’s gonna happen

Guehi is a really good player happy he’s joining with the depth we’ve got at the minute if he does join but it does seem a bit short sighted and creates a headache in the summer. 6 centre backs is one too many I think we might see a surprise exit

@StevenMcinerney I think you are quick to forget, none of these players played a big role in treble winning campaign, foden, mahrez and alvrez being benched in all big games. Yes gundogan is a big differential and kdb but formation we deployed was what made the difference

I just can't really shake the idea that there's just a bit of a quality issue up top. We should have won all three of these draws. Cast your mind back to the treble season. Killers everywhere. If Haaland doesn't score, you know Alvarez will. If he doesnt, Mahrez will. Or Gundogan will. Or De Bruyne. Or Foden. Or Rodri. Even peak Silva had the convinction to step up with the belief of playing with that lot etc etc... Now? If not Haaland, you go to Foden. After that, maybe Reijnders or Cherki? After that there's no one. Maybe add Rodri again when he finds fitness, but for now - no. I wouldn't trust Doku/Savinho/Bobb to score 10 goals collectively all season. Bearing that in mind, the Semenyo chase makes sense. City need killers. We are not miserly enough in defence to succeed without them.
