Port Adelaide chairman David Koch says he’s “pretty certain” the club will appeal the decision to uphold Zak Butters’ fine for umpire abuse. Club will receive tribunal findings and make its decision this morning @7AFL @7NewsAdelaide

@bdosi72 @LeeroyLives @RalphyHeraldSun It’s okay little buddy! Sometimes you can put your weird obsessions aside and just agree with what’s right
English

@LeeroyLives @RalphyHeraldSun Because the umpire said that’s what he heard, the umpire has nothing to gain from this!
Butters & Wines have everything to gain by sticking together and denying it was said because they don’t want Butters suspended for accusing the umpire of cheating!
It’s typical port power!

Time for the AFLPA to go into battle for their players with a very strong public stance, which new AFLPA boss James Gallagher is up for. Port is shattered by the ruling but also bemused by little things like having to wait until tomorrow for the explanation for the ruling which means it has to wait to decide upon an appeal

'INCANDESCENT WITH RAGE' 😡 TOTAL fury has erupted over Zak Butters' $1,500 fine for alleged umpire abuse. In fact, one third-party is tipped to "come off the top rope" in the superstar's defence. MORE FROM #AFL360 + #MidweekTackle >> bit.ly/3O1DY27

@mpole_mike @ChefTom1985 @shanemcinnes Would be very surprised if he’s allowed to umpire a port game for a long time let alone a Butters game given he needs to provide Brownlow votes
English

@cdthirteen @ChefTom1985 @shanemcinnes Yep. Throw the player under the bus with zero evidence other than that of a very compromised umpire.
Let’s count the seconds before he gives his first of many frees against Port the next time he gets a Power game Would he be that vindictive? I’d lay a bet with his employer
English

He’s disappointed with the result, and to make it worse, is given no reason as to why the verdict is what it is.
Not good enough.

Butters statement 👇🏻@7AFL @7NewsAdelaide
English

@mpole_mike @shanemcinnes Haha yeah. Needs to be more than just “we believe the umpire and not the player”
English

I understand the AFL players association is incensed by the Zak Butters decision. Its chief James Gallagher has already spoken with the Port star who is understandably livid.
A decision on whether the Power appeal will wait until the club receives the tribunal’s findings tomorrow.

Having worked with Nick Foot, it is nonsense to suggest a job with Sportsbet to analyse racing impacts on his role as an umpire.

@beetgordon_ @AflGlicko Travis Boak and Nathan Jones arent even in the same postcode
English

@AflGlicko Wild take when Travis Boak and Nathan Jones are right there (let alone a bunch of guys from the pre-80s who wouldn’t come close)
English

Wouldn’t get your hopes up. Greg Swann was pretty adamant on SEN on Monday that these changes were happening this year.

English

@FootyonNine Makes sense - you can't change the rules for a draft that teams have been planning for over the past two seasons.
Port took 0 players in the draft, choosing to get capital into next draft to match bids using CURRENT rules. You can't then go change those rules.

Zak Butters has been referred to the AFL Tribunal for an incident during Sunday's game against St Kilda.
The club will defend in the strongest possible way the allegations made against Butters.

Zak Butters has been sent straight to the Tribunal for abusive and insulting language toward an umpire.

English

Zak Butters has been referred directly to the AFL Tribunal after being charged with Abusive and Insulting Language Towards an Umpire.
It is alleged Butters said to Umpire Nick Foot, “How much are they paying you?” @FOXFOOTY
English

@banksyfh4959682 @Craig253601Ryan @RalphyHeraldSun Fair. Doesnt pass the pub test at all if he cops a fine for this either way
English

@cdthirteen @Craig253601Ryan @RalphyHeraldSun It didn't but I'd say the AFL will weigh the word of an AFL employed umpire far more heavily than opposition players.
English

We officially have Collard 2.0. Nick Foot is doubling down, has told the AFL today he heard Butters say something much stronger than a query about why he paid a decision. Port backing Butters. If neither party backs down by late this arvo we are likely off to a tribunal, which could hear the case ungraded. How else can the AFL solve it? The ump microphones weren’t turned off, they just didn’t pick up the exchange 👇 heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/the-…

English

@Craig253601Ryan @RalphyHeraldSun They do. A stat dec/statement from Foot will suffice.
English

@RalphyHeraldSun If they just didnt pick up the exchange surely release them so we can see for ourselves
