An armed man trying to impede a lawful arrest is a recipe for disaster. I expect law enforcement officers to use good judgement. But not to foolishly risk their lives or the lives of others. As to the recent tragic shooting in Minnesota where Border Patrol agents used deadly force against an armed protestor trying to impede a lawful arrest, it is a direct result of the heated rhetoric and over the top reaction toward ICE —who are simply trying to enforce the law in sanctuary cities. You have every right to protest and you have every right to disagree with President Trump. No one has the right to impede law enforcement officers carrying out their duties. If you go to such events with a loaded gun, bad things can happen. The facts will be fully investigated, but for me having been a defense attorney and prosecutor who’s been around law enforcement officers, you have to understand the extreme pressure that Border Patrol and ICE agents are under in sanctuary cities. These cities have willfully ignored federal law, creating massive fraud of benefits, a constant magnet for illegal immigration and a breakdown of law and order. I will be introducing legislation to end sanctuary state and city polices once and for all because they rip off the taxpayer and cause extreme danger for those trying to clean up the mess in these liberal cities.

Today, ICE officers in Minneapolis were conducting targeted operations when rioters began blocking ICE officers and one of these violent rioters weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers in an attempt to kill them—an act of domestic terrorism. An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots. He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers. The alleged perpetrator was hit and is deceased. The ICE officers who were hurt are expected to make full recoveries.   This is the direct consequence of constant attacks and demonization of our officers by sanctuary politicians who fuel and encourage rampant assaults on our law enforcement who are facing 1,300% increase in assaults against them and an 8,000% increase in death threats.  This is an evolving situation, and we will give the public more information as soon as it becomes available.

I'm going to share a personal opinion, for which I have absolutely no proof: It is practically impossible for dozens of highly trained presidential security personnel, holding defensive positions in facilities they know intimately, with an extremely experienced guard force that was already anticipating a possible attack, to be completely wiped out without the attackers suffering a single casualty. Moreover, Venezuelan reports state that they were executed in cold blood. In my view, by the time the Americans arrived, Maduro had already surrendered. That could only have been the work of Venezuelans themselves, who disarmed and executed his entire presidential guard.

This is an official aviation weather product, produced for Atlanta…the busiest airport in the country. I have something to say: If you can’t separate your personal beliefs from your job, and can’t be professional, quit. If you won’t quit, I hope you get fired, because I now question your judgement & decision making ability. I don’t need zealots who will do random stuff “for the cause”, I need steady professionals. I can’t emphasize enough that the vast majority of ATC is exactly that – steady, wise professionals that I have a deep respect for. Our transportation system cannot function without them; pilots get a lot of glory, but the system is very complicated & we can’t do it on our own on a good day….when things go bad, ATC moves heaven & earth to create safe outcomes. It hurts me to see them going without pay…they were already neglected & making it all happen anyway despite enormous challenges before the shutdown. Even after the shutdown ends, they’re going to need a lot of support. They do NOT behave this way. This isn’t necessarily an ATC anyway, but most people won’t get the distinction & thus it’s not necessarily relevant. My point is that this kind of stuff tarnishes everyone. It must be stomped out & the offender punished severely as an example to others. Come to work as a professional. Some light jokes are OK…hell, I wear fun socks. Leave the rest of that shit at home.
