After 3️⃣ amazing years, my sabbatical officially comes to an end today⌛️ It was on this momentous day 3 years ago that I walked away from 12 years of a highly successful entrepreneurial greenfield journey having pushed myself through extreme albeit unhealthy workaholism, when I opted to flip the switch completely retiring early to dedicate my exclusive time to family and self-care plus community social activities that I always cherish. The three years of sabbatical have gone by so fast💨 with wonderful moments to treasure and be grateful for full of 𝑆ℎ𝑢𝑘𝑟 🥹🤲🏾 while patiently enduring the challenging phases with 𝑆𝑎𝑏𝑟 Alhamdulillah 🥲🤲🏾 The very best moments during my 3-years sabbatical were those early weeks when my dearest Mum quipped that she had never seen me actually relaxed and happier from the time I joined varsity and thereafter throughout my career. Little did I know those actually the very happy moments that were to be our last with Mum before she died suddenly in our arms at 75 years of age on 1st July 2024, happy & contented like as per her prayers that were akin to a premonition 🥺🤲🏾 Mum was present when I retired from Pathologists Lancet Kenya (now rebranded to Cerba Lancet Kenya) and #LancetGroupofLabs having worried about the relentless workaholism and work-life balance neglect that she saw inspite of her pride in the success of the entrepreneurial journey I had building the largest independent lab network in Kenya & East Africa - a lab that changed the landscape of medicine in the region with >80 branch, >500 personnel, and >$30M USD annual revenue across East Africa 🇰🇪🇷🇼🇹🇿🇺🇬 Shortly before Mum’s sudden death, she regularly encouraged and motivated us reminding us that 𝑟𝑖𝑧𝑘 is from the Almighty in whom we must place our total trust as our Provider while putting our best effort in a balanced manner, and at the same time we must always be steadfast when it comes to fighting against 𝑑ℎ𝑢𝑙𝑚𝑎 (oppression / swindling) from anyone. Her immortal advice have proven true and continue to remain true ❤️🤲🏾 Whereas I can never be able to make up for all the lost time during those excessive long hours of workaholism neglecting family and self-care, the 3-years have been fantastic for healing, regeneration and renewal Alhamdulillah. Time to now turn the new page of a new chapter in my life as I restart my medical lab entrepreneurial career, with 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒄𝒐𝒎𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒂 𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒇𝒕 𝒕𝒐 𝒂 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒆𝒓 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆-𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 𝒃𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 moving forward in a 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫, 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞, 𝐛𝐢𝐠𝐠𝐞𝐫 & 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐡𝐚’𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐡 🔭🤲🏾 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐧 After Eid this week through a period of the next 2-3 months I embark with my new start-up team on setting up the new lab facility for the innovative & disruptive lab venture with plans to launch operations after mid-year 2024 insha’Allah 🌱🤲🏾 #Shukr #Sabr #Dua
