Might have landed a dream job. The gallery where I had my exhibition last year wants me to deliver a course of multiple lectures on various aspects of Chinese philosophy, history, aesthetics, art etc. Since they are an accredited gallery, they can pay me contractually. Pumped.

If I wanted to read a book or watch a movie that wasn’t translated into a language I knew because the artist refused to (or it’s simply unavailable) then the onus is on me to learn the language. Historians & philosophers do this all the time. I’m doing this rn with Chinese lol

Imo the Toby translation discourse is only happening bc the game was originally in English. If it was originally in any other language, eg Spanish, it’s very easy to see why demanding an official translation into another lang is anti-art. You’d simply tell them to learn Spanish.
