If that’s accurate — and it probably isn’t — that means 30% less capability to save West Europe. The loss of German bases doesn’t lessen the defense of the U.S. one iota. And someone earlier pointed out the UK lost 450 soldiers after 9/11. Well, the U.S. lost 250,000 on the European Theater in WWII. Thats what you call an ally.

@devinepj @GrahamAllen The US will lose its bases in middle east soon because of Trump's failed war. Losing bases in Germany would cut 30 % capabilities. Rammstein saved thousands of lives of us service members.... NATO has to clear stupid decisions! Yes! On 9/11 we stand with you - not Russia.

@gippa1966 @paulfinlay23903 @GrahamAllen We all know why Russia didn’t invade a country with U.S. bases. We also all know why both Russia and China have opted to sit out the Iran conflict and not help their Iranian allies.

@paulfinlay23903 @devinepj @GrahamAllen The good ole us of a and the russian federation can batter the shit out of each other with ICBM’s so that is irrelevant It doesn’t explain why putin chose to invade Ukraine instead of a country with US bases though

@paulfinlay23903 @GrahamAllen Tell me you’re from Liverpool without telling me you’re from Liverpool. And, oh by the way, those bases are in countries of our NATO allies, which the UK is (or is supposed to be, but we all know you’re not) part of.

@NBawbag1 @Areteroute @GrahamAllen Besides, the UK should be the last country commenting on military readiness since neither of your carriers — you know, the ones the size of our help carriers — are combat ready today. Between the U.S. fleet carriers and our amphibious carriers, we have 20 flattops to your 2.

@NBawbag1 @Areteroute @GrahamAllen The cool thing is we have plenty more where that one came from. Of course, anytime you would like to take on the U.S. military, give it your best shot.

Lol. Iran has been decimated by U.S. weapon systems and both Russian and Chinese systems have failed miserably in defense, but that concept might be a little too difficult for a Macedonian to grasp. After all, you rank 114th out of 145 on the 2026 Global Firepower Index while the U.S. is only ranked #1. I’m sure your forces with its 10,000 active duty military members would kick the U.S.’s ass. By the way, the U.S. provides the preponderance of your ground combat systems. I guess you chose poorly when you bought out stuff — I hear plenty of Chinese systems are available.

We may well be witnessing the formal beginning of the end of America’s long and self-assigned tenure as the world’s policeman. In an achievement no previous U.S. president managed to deliver, @realDonaldTrump has arguably accelerated the strategic decline of Washington’s global authority from within. Few adversaries could have undermined American credibility this efficiently, it took a sitting president to do it. Congratulations #USA your clown did it!!!

@GBX_Press Where did you get your sources from to make such a statement??? Is it from the Ayatolla that seems to be in a coma? Saudi Arabia is the US closest ally in the Gulf, and its security protection depends on US support

@NBawbag1 @Areteroute @GrahamAllen Lol. Until literally any other country in the world decides they want to crush the UK, then you’ll be screaming for help. Maybe the French will come bail you out like they did in Cyprus and together you can surrender.

The Trump attacks on the UK seem absurd but might be tactical. The narrative could be (US) are walking away, "get the oil yourself". And Iran will charge $2m per mega tanker, adding $1 per barrel. This pivots a US loss into a perceived UK loss. And ignores that Iran won.

@devinepj @GrahamAllen Trump alienated all allies US had. He disrespected them, threatened them with invasion and tariffs, you still expect them to help? When you bully everyone around, you end up isolated. It happens now with Golf countries as well. They do not trust Trump anymore.

You are exactly right, they are going to have to make some really hard decisions. While I support Trump, I can see why he infuriates so many people and it’s often counterproductive. I think many EU countries pat themselves on the back with how they judge Trump and refuse to get involved with his “illegal” wars, while they hypocritically want to expand the war in Ukraine. I think the U.S. should pull back on focus on the Western Hemisphere and pull out of NATO. Continue as meaningful trade partners but let the Europeans fight their own wars. They can feel the pain of paying for their own defense.

How the hell is NATO going to pay for all those socialist programs when they have to pony up for all their own defense without the United States backing them up? I'm buying my popcorn to watch this one!
