#LestWeForgetIndia🇮🇳 Sepoy Chandan Singh Shaurya Chakra (P) 19 KUMAON On 19 March 1997, Sepoy Chandan Singh was deployed as part of the inner cordon during a search operation in village Wodhpura, Jammu & Kashmir. During the operation, a terrorist attempted to escape through a gap in the cordon. Sep Singh immediately engaged and closed in on the individual. The terrorist opened fire and attempted to flee. Despite sustaining multiple gunshot wounds in the ensuing encounter, Sep Singh continued the pursuit and neutralised the terrorist single-handedly. His action enabled the search party to apprehend four additional terrorists and recover a quantity of arms and ammunition. Sepoy Chandan Singh later succumbed to his injuries. The #IndianBrave was awarded the Shaurya Chakra (Posthumous) 🏵️

#LestWeForgetIndia🇮🇳 Lieutenant Satbir Singh Shaurya Chakra (P), Sena Medal, Army Education Corps/ 12 MARATHA LI and his supreme sacrifice fighting militants in Manipur #OnThisDay 18 March in 2009 The gallant #IndianBrave had just turned 25 and is the only AEC officer to be decorated twice for gallantry. Commissioned in the Army Education Corps on in December 2007, Lt Satbir was posted to 12 MLI deployed in insurgency-hit Manipur on attachment. SENA MEDAL (Gallantry): On 29 November 2008, based on specific information about the presence of armed terrorists in Bomdiar village, Bishnupur distt, Manipur, Lt Singh, along with a team each of his Ghatak Platoon and Police Commandos, launched a joint operation in the village. Immediately, the teams together laid multiple ambushes on all exit routes from the village. The team led by Lt Satbir spotted two suspects and challenged them to stop. The surprised terrorists opened fire at the party, which pinned down Lt Singh's buddy L/Nk Mahadik in the open. Lt Singh swiftly maneuvered to the flank and killed the terrorist. With total disregard to personal safety, he not only saved the life of a soldier but also along with his buddy chased the fleeing terrorists and managed to kill the other terrorist. The operation resulted in the recovery of one magazine of 9 mm live rounds and one hand grenade. Lt Satbir led his team from the front and displayed leadership qualities and personal courage of a high order for which he was awarded the Sena Medal (gallantry). SHAURYA CHAKRA (P): In yet another instance, on 18 March 2009, at 08:45 pm, Lt Singh's patrol established a mobile check post at the Naurem Bridge near Bomdiar. He deployed the party tactically to cover the area around. From this group, Sepoy Chandrakant was tasked with signaling vehicles to stop. While trying to stop a jeep, sepoy Chandrakant was fired at by the terrorists from the vehicle. He sustained a gunshot wound on his left thigh and fell on the road. Lt Singh returned the fire and with total disregard to personal safety pulled the sepoy to cover. In the process, he also sustained a gunshot wound on the left shoulder and the armpit but refused to get evacuated. He ordered the search party to cover him and continued firing at the terrorists till he fell unconscious, thereby destroying the vehicle and forcing the terrorists to flee. While being evacuated to the nearest civil hospital, the #IndianBrave breathed his last en route. Next day, during search, the body of a slain terrorist killed by Lt Satbir along with an AK-47 rifle and a magazine full of live rounds was recovered. For his conspicuous bravery, determined perseverance, unmatched camaraderie and supreme sacrifice in the best traditions of the Indian Army, Lt Satbir Singh was awarded the Shaurya Chakra, posthumously.
