1️⃣4️⃣ more #Canucks games to go. Buium will soon have an A on his jersey. He’ll never be a Quinn Hughes type of D with those stats. But he’ll be better defensively. Buium and Willander will be a pair next season. Hronek and D-Petey, another. M. Pettersson and Mancini also. Next season the Canucks D will be a strength of this team. Then it’s up to the goaltending to carry its load. Utilize the draft picks to build out, and you have the foundation to climb a few notches in the standings. The Canucks first draft choice needs to be in the lineup next season. Along with Cootes. Add a few affordable veteran players and at least compete every game. Most of the UFA’s will not be back. Some regulars need to be traded. The team still needs a 1C. Which means Petey has to go. Rossi can be a 2C. There’s plenty of prospective 3 & 4C’s. Last but not least. Manny Malhotra to lead this young team out of the basement. Next season, if the Canucks can go from .368 P% (32nd) to .493 (27th), they’ll still get a top 6 pick to continue to build with. The season after that, they’ll push for a playoff spot. Right to the final game of the season.

There has to be a way the #Canucks can get the Ruck twins in the draft… projected late 1st or early 2nd round.

@AndehWahl I think it's bad for the Canucks to do this because those 4 first round picks will be more important for the rebuild then getting Bedard or Celebrini. But yeah, a team closer to contention with space makes a ton of sense.

I'm curious with the rising cap ceiling if we'll see some completely bonkers offer sheets. I mean, why not? Say a team has space, lots of space. Say they're in a rebuild like the #Canucks or don't spend to the cap like some other teams. What's stopping anyone from offer sheeting someone like Bedard for 18-20m, or Celibrini when he's eligible? Sure, Chicago/San Jose can match but it can put some teams in very interesting positions. They might have to pay Bedard more than they'd like, or be forced to trade other pieces just to make room for the match, or heck... maybe even make the decision to not match. Fact is teams will have room for some crazy shenanigans. They'll be able to checkmate other teams and I'll be annoyed if noone is ruthless enough to do abuse that.
